That isn\u2019t here, but there are hints of its flavour in opening track Kumina, which sounds like jazz-rockers Santana with the bass turned up uncomfortably loud.<\/p>\n
The relatively sedate covers of The Abyssinians\u2019 Satta Massagana and Burning Spear\u2019s Slavery Days that follow underline their reggae credentials, but the pace picks up later in the set with the likes of Freedom Song and Run For Cover.<\/p>\n
The band aren\u2019t heavy enough to really qualify as roots, despite the earnest and frequent musician introductions stressing their Jamaican origins. The US market at this point wanted a commercial sound, but Third World had yet to perfect it. These tracks feature original singer Milton \u2018Prilly\u2019 Hamilton, replaced on the hits by former Inner Circle man William \u2018Bunny Rugs\u2019 Clarke.<\/p>\n
The card gatefold packaging features an Adrian Boot cover shot and reveals that original members Cat Coore and Richard Daley continue recording and touring to this day.
