Kompakt\u2019s roughly annual compilation series hits a particularly successful, ecstatic and sun-drenched volume this year (and once again adds further material on the vinyl edition). Superpitcher doesn\u2019t quite hit the peaks of this year\u2019s Golden Ravedays <\/i>series with his entry, but otherwise, alles ist gut.<\/p>\n
In among it all are tracks from titans such as Laurent Garnier and The Orb, and bits from the T Raumschmiere and Vermont albums. Sasha\u2019s towering prog houser features Poli\u00e7a\u2019s Channy Leaneagh, who is shaping up as an electronica siren of choice, having also guested on the last Leftfield album. Some of the most effective entries though come from regulars and newbies: J\u00fcrgen Paape casually knocks out a Balearic filter disco charmer, and French DJ Demian drops the sparkling and majestic Milestars.<\/p>\n
Best of all, young Cologne producer Max Scholpp conjures up the atmosphere of The Orb\u2019s Little Fluffy Clouds (via a similarly starry-eyed spoken word sample) on his wonderful ambient dub piece The Dream. Elsewhere, a classic bleep riff is diverted into downtempo shuffle mode by Tobias Thomas and Michael Mayer, and Greek gods are summoned by Voigt & Voigt.
