This box takes in 80 glorious girl groovers, including five previously unreleased songs: Lorraine Child\u2019s Something I\u2019ve Got To Tell You; The Triplets\u2019 Rainbow; Barbara Ruskin\u2019s You Won\u2019t See Me Leaving; Samantha Jones\u2019 version of After All (I Live My Life), which is totally gorgeous and far punchier than Lulu\u2019s take on it, and Friday Brown\u2019s Take What You Want \u2013 an absolutely beautiful song, penned by Brown and with delicate guitar and pristine vox.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s so much good stuff on here to satisfy all tastes and better-known artists such as Cilla, Dusty and Sandie all get a look in, but excitingly the songs chosen are less obvious, with a studio cut of Cilla performing A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues, Dusty\u2019s self-penned B-side Something Special, and Shaw\u2019s take on Led Zep\u2019s Your Time Is Gonna Come among them.<\/p>\n
The amount of love and effort that\u2019s gone into the release is palpable \u2013 from the extensive sleevenotes in the and the packaging (the box set cover is a black-and-white photo of Maureen Starkey looking timelessly cool with kohl-smeared eyes and a knitted Playboy <\/i>jumper), to the stellar tracklist.
