Lovingly illustrated with great wit by Richard Schaller, in the style of teenybopper comic strips more commonly associated with Jackie <\/i>magazine, it\u2019s also rich in historical detail; record company bidding wars (Chiswick offered a princely \u00a3600 deal), audience fisticuffs at low-rent venues, meeting Marc Bolan, and being arrested for drunkenly dancing in a French fountain.<\/p>\n
Buckler is an engaging raconteur throughout, his self-effacing humour perfectly complemented by Schaller\u2019s not always flattering visual depictions of the band, and it\u2019s clear the drummer views his past fondly without a shred of bitterness over what was to follow. With so many po-faced and self-aggrandising celeb autobiographies on the market, this is a refreshing alternative, and future volumes chronicling the rest of the band\u2019s career would be more than welcome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
