Performing in a three-piece with Fausto Beccalossi nonchalantly matching Al note-for-note on accordian, and Peo Alfonsi providing elegant rhythm guitar, with the occasional doubled\/harmony line, they previewed tracks from the forthcoming <i>Opus<\/i>, including the epic Cerreto Sannita. Al\u2019s ongoing love affair with Astor Piazzolla\u2019s peerless tango compositions continued with the wonderfully evocative Cafe 1930. A reimagining of The Beatles\u2019 Because was scarcely recognisable, but as melodically gorgeous as the original.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">At times, Al\u2019s acoustic tone was supplemented with pedals, as on the beguiling Misterio. Turquoise needed no additional colour, given its alliance of flamenco flair and jazz temperament. It provided the perfect entree for a thrilling finale in Mediterranean Sundance, with Peo finally able to unleash his inner Paco.
