It\u2019s a bit of a double-whammy, this issue (even though it doesn\u2019t actually feature Wham!). The cover itself is shared by Record Store Day<\/em><\/strong> and Robert Plant<\/strong> and is a celebration of all things black and round as the 19th<\/sup> anniversary of the biggest day in the vinyl calendar fast approaches. Over 20 pages in this SPECIAL! BUMPER! issue we tell the story of Record Store Day<\/em>, speak to the main players who helped make it happen, and nominate some of the weird and wonderful Record Store Day<\/em> releases since its inception in 2007. We also get to speak, at length, to one of music\u2019s foremost record collectors: take a bow and shake that mane, Mr Plant. The former Leading Frontman In All Rock\u2019N\u2019Roll talks Kris Needs through the formative vinyl purchases of his childhood and teens, with a focus on folk and blues, discusses the music he\u2019s about to release on his latest Saving Grace EP, issued to coincide with Record Store Day, <\/em>and explores his involvement with RSD<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is much else to look out for in this edition of RC<\/em>. Lois Wilson looks at the tremendous number of standout soul, funk and disco albums released in 1976<\/strong> (by sheer fluke that number happens to be 76). Joel McIver meets metal pioneers Celtic Frost<\/strong>. Dave Thompson meets the surviving members of countercultural heroes, Pink Fairies<\/strong>. Michael Heatley spends 45 minutes with The Damned\u2019s Captain Sensible <\/strong>and Johnny Sharp passes 33 1\/3 minutes with the outrageous Peaches<\/strong>. RC<\/em> Investigates spends time in the strange world of the flexidisc.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New releases from Rush, The Beach Boys, Pat Metheny<\/strong> and Rainbow<\/strong> are examined in depth, as well as books on Dylan, Joni Mitchell and KISS, concerts by Kula Shaker, Los Lobos and Lucinda Williams, and singles by Say She She and Placid Angles. Graham Parker<\/strong> collates the soundtrack to his life. The subject of 10 Of The Best this month is Go-Go Albums<\/strong>. We go Under The Radar with David McWilliams<\/strong>, the enigmatic composer of The Days Of Pearly Spencer, and into The Engine Room with ubiquitous post-punk drummer supreme, June Miles-Kingston. <\/strong>You can win Dio <\/strong>and Gary Numan <\/strong>vinyl in Competitions & Crossword. <\/strong>Our man in Scandinavia nominates the greatest singles ever to come out of Stockholm. <\/strong>Queries concerning The Cars <\/strong>and Talking Heads <\/strong>vinyl appear in Value Added Facts. The Beggars Archive <\/strong>features in <\/strong>Diggin\u2019 For Gold. Gary Moore<\/strong>\u2019s guitars and Michael Jackon<\/strong>\u2019s models are up for auction in Most Wanted. Steve Hillage <\/strong>and Courtney Pine <\/strong>are among the Talking Heads. Luke Haines<\/strong> talks cover versions. Neil Sedaka<\/strong> and Television\u2019s Fred Smith<\/strong> are among those missed in Not Forgotten.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
