The Workshop\u2019s position was consolidated in 1963 when the theme from Doctor Who, arranged by <a href=\"https:\/\/siteproxy.ruqli.workers.dev:443\/https\/recordcollectormag.com\/?s=Delia+Derbyshire\"><strong>Delia Derbyshire<\/strong><\/a>, became a cosmic hit. Derbyshire and colleague David Vorhaus moonlighted as White Noise in the late 60s, making off-kilter, progressive pop, eccentric and playful, and hauntological before Derrida had coined the term. Tangerine Dream<\/h4><h4 style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: margin: 0;\"><em>Phaedra<\/em><\/h4><p style=\"margin-top: 4px; font-size: 14px;\">(Virgin V 2010, UK, 1974)<\/p><\/div><p>The fifth album from the West Berlin kosmische collective marked a pivotal moment in <a href=\"https:\/\/siteproxy.ruqli.workers.dev:443\/https\/recordcollectormag.com\/?s=Tangerine+Dream\"><strong>Tangerine Dream<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s career. Phaedra was the first album recorded in England and their debut for Virgin Records \u2013 a fruitful and commercially viable relationship that would last the best part of 10 years. As well as bringing out an album every year in that time, Edgar Froese and Peter Baumann were also keeping Virgin\u2019s PR department busy with solo releases. Klaus Schulze<\/h4><h4 style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: margin: 0;\"><em>Timewind<\/em><\/h4><p style=\"margin-top: 4px; font-size: 14px;\">(Brain BRAIN 1075, Germany, 1975)<\/p><\/div><p>The German electronic musician became a temporary member of Tangerine Dream in their pre-Virgin days, and helped form Ash Ra Tempel before upping and leaving again, deciding instead to pursue his own prolific adventures in kosmische (Schulze still has some way to go to catch up with Tangerine Dream\u2019s 160 LPs). The album sold out its initial 20,000 run on the small label P\u00f4le, who\u2019d added their moniker to the cover at the last minute, against Philippe Besombes and Jean-Louis Rizet\u2019s wishes. Re-released a year later by Tapioca, the album had assumed the name P\u00f4le because of fans\u2019 presumptions. Their first collaborative outing together at the German musicians\u2019 country idyll in Forst, alongside production legend Conny Plank, is as uncomplicated as a record can be. The elongated ostinatos feel familiar, but there\u2019s a warmth to Cluster &amp; Eno that exudes mutual respect. Furthermore, the interaction between Roedelius\u2019 nourishing piano and the surrounding electrostatic is expertly intermingled by
