It would be nice if the npc loadout system was a bit more flexible.

As is, melee dps characters are in a very awkward position.  You generally want pretty much everyone to be equipped with a whip (or possibly a staff), because taking prisoners is obviously incredibly helpful.  However, because everyone can have precisely one melee weapon and precisely one ranged weapon, once you've equipped a whip, you can't also use a greatsword or whatever other dps melee weapon you'd like to use.  Instead, "whip + powerful gun" loadouts become pretty much the only reasonable choice, and melee focused people like the black scorpion or the christian knight dude become a bit of a waste.

If everyone could have any two weapons (similar to the pc's any 4 weapon setup), that would enable whip + greatsword loadouts to compete with whip + plasma rifle or whatever.  Running a melee npc might actually be a reasonable choice at that point.  If you want to make melee-focused builds even more viable, give everyone 3 or 4 slots, so npcs could use a whip + greatsword + gun loadout and have a backup for the couple of fights and enemies that are basically impossible to melee (cough dudes with 160 dex).

There appears to be a mismatch between the animations mod code and the actual files.  For example, ellen (av50) has 9 different animations, but they never actually play because the "does this girl have animations" check doesn't mention her.

I would consider making one.  Personally, I refuse to play any game without at least a free demo, because I find that these sorts of games can be incredibly hit or miss for me.  Paying $15 for something that I might end up playing for all of 5 minutes is a bit of a hard sell.  However, there have definitely been games where I played a half-hour demo and then immediately bought the full game.

Most devs either offer a "buy once and always get the newest version" deal or only allow you to pay on patreon.  There are definitely games where I purchased the paid version on itch years ago and can still access the current paid version.

Investigate what happened to the old headmaster.  That quest line eventually lets you convince ruth.

I'm seeing this issue as well -- paid $10 a year ago, and while I can find the "you paid for this, so here are your downloads" page, it only has the free versions.  It really looks like there's something misconfigured on your end.

Interesting.  The first one opened the game, but double clicking on the .app still didn't work.  The second fixed things entirely.

The odd thing is that most renpy apps work fine without this.  Not sure why yours and a couple others are unhappy, while the rest work.

I'm also on M1, which might affect things.

Worth noting that the mac packaging doesn't seem to work (at least for me).  It looks like you are trying to move the actual "game" folder with the game data out of the .app, but it doesn't work on my machine.  When I copy a working renpy app and paste in your game folder in the right spot, everything works, but it does appear to need that level of surgery to run.

Fun game once I got it to run, though.

If you just want chapter 6, download them both, right click and hit "show package contents" on both, drag the contents folder from 5-6 into 1-4, and then hit "merge" when it says that there are duplicates.
