cleanups to build script and tests

Apply the patch from James Nylen (2010-05-04).

Add wrapper around deprecated snd_card_new function.

Should really replace with the proper snd_card_create
function, but this will do for a start.

Update to patch supplied by James Nylen. Rearranged #if .. #else .. #endif blocks to personal taste.

"There were two relevant changes made to the ALSA API fairly recently (I was
unable to determine when). The driver is indeed using older ALSA but it is
much easier to patch the driver than to downgrade ALSA.

1) sound/driver.h no longer exists and is no longer needed.

2) they changed the signature of snd_card_create().

Copied the patch to the ./src directory and applied it. Not compiled yet.

Copy r120 from trunk.

Park an ancient version (over two years ago!) of the driver before copying
trunk into my personal branch.

Latest testing, new debugging can be configured in options_gl824.h

This is the latest as being used by Mike for 32 channel playback. Updated from the wavepro/gl824/src branch as there might be some experimentation going on there. Please note the options_gl824.h file where yuo can configure whether the card supports stereo PCMs and the period size (latency).
