"Video streaming server I prefer" Posted 2023-10-23
Pros: We were looking for a streaming server with api to create our OTT, and we settled on Callaba. We choose them because their API generate HLS video links of our SRT or RTMP source. We use Callaba server for creating mobile apps, segment live broadcasts from TV channels into ts fragments with adaptive bitrate with minimal actions.
Cons: No docs for Rust. We use rust as our mobile rest api. Hope they will add it.
Overall: I recommend using Callaba streaming server if you need a full control solution for delivering video.

"Easy pay-per-view (PPV) monetising" Posted 2023-09-01
Pros: We tried to host a few small-scale lectures and looked for an easy way to collect entrance fees from our attendees. It worked quite well, surprisingly. I'm not too fond of Pay Pal though, but as long as we don't get charged any kind of commission on those payments, I'm down to use whatever.
So far we hosted 4 webinars with attendance ranging from 10-14 participants.Cons: Although we can upload the background image and the logo, I wish there were more options to customise the web player colour scheme to get the whole branding together.
PayPal is not my favourite too.Overall: For small paid live video events, this is useful service. I have learned that we can host large-scale events too, but we will need additional content delivery service. For small events, just one server is good enough.

"Provides more control" Posted 2023-08-01
Pros: + As some others have stated, this is a good tool for simul-casting. That's what I've been mostly using it for.
+ Their support agent told me you can stream to Callaba from within Callaba to avoid excessive transcoding. As an optimisation freak, I liked that.Cons: - Could be more convenient. I have many 'custom' destinations, and I feel like there needs to be an 'address book', as I can't possibly remember all of the IPs and what they represent.
Overall: = I've only tried it for a short time, so my review is not very detailed. I wanted a really flexible software that I can control myself and this is the closest that I found.

"Awesome for multi-streaming " Posted 2023-07-26
Pros: If you need to multi-cast your streams to a bunch of social services, this works simply great. I prefer it to Restream as I don't like subscriptions.
Easy and fast integration, within a short amount of time you can set up your stream flows.Cons: I'd like to be able to group my settings into folders. But really it is not a problem at all, if you use clear naming conventions.
Overall: Very easy and quick product to get up and running and it does what it says it does. When you need deliver your streams to a lot of places, and do so without major costs, recommended. Great solution.

"Precious piece of software" Posted 2023-07-19
Pros: The web player is great. I can monitor my streams to see if the video is not jittering and I can share the link with my teammates. Usage-based pricing is another plus. You can turn it off and on when needed.
Cons: These guys need to add a detailed documentation about all the various settings and parameters that this software provides. There are tooltips, but sometimes it's not enough.
Overall: I like it, it's very straightforward for video production tasks. My colleagues like it too, you can get good quality video to any place.

Cons: Wish the way you organize streams was visualized better.
Overall: A bit slow customer support, but many tutorials on their website. Not too confusing. Overall good streaming software.

"My calaba experience has been good" Posted 2022-12-26
Pros: Callaba is a wonderful streaming software via srt with low latency that helps us stay connected between our offices.
Cons: Integration to AWS Cloudfront is difficult to set up and offers no way to fix without their support. There are usage instructions steps for CF but, if you not guru of AWS then you are left with no way to fix the problem. Only via call to support.
Overall: We use Mokito encoder-decoder and Callaba as video transport. I also enjoy being able to send video to multiple offices at the same time It helps get the work done and info out in a fast way.

"Callaba is great software. " Posted 2022-12-23
Pros: Callaba is great software. We have been looking a solution that suits for our online tv. Together with Callaba we implemented private video with pay per view model and we were to add a new monetization. We use Callaba in AWS, but we plan move to local server provider and install self-hosted version.
Cons: While I like that my streaming steps is flexible, some of it isn't quite customizable enough - there are limited banners overlay options.
Overall: Callaba is a great tool with one of the best customer streaming service. The interface also is pretty easy to use. It's a must recommended tool if you are broadcasting engineer.

"The perfect streaming engine." Posted 2022-12-22
Pros: The perfect streaming engine. I just love everything about Callaba. They provides one of the best functionality set for creating my broadcast cases with restreams which are easily transcode and simple to play around with their player as monitor.I have very few complaints about Callaba, but I do wish they could incorporate stream parameters check into their system somehow to help expedite the video quality analyzing process.
Cons: I have very few complaints about Callaba, but I do wish they could incorporate stream parameters check into their system somehow to help expedite the video quality analyzing process.
Overall: It’s my tool for sports streaming. I can organize everything I need in one web player to lots of viewers. I tried another product because it was related with my work, but their newsletter features were too difficult for me to learn. Callaba is the way to streaming.

"Webinar-player & white label possibility " Posted 2022-12-21
Pros: I love many features Calaba platform and look it essentials for made my company smoothly. My two main features are the webinar-player that allow you to set many settings and plays my halls even poor internet connection. The other is the white label possibility because I cannot use another brands in my business.
Cons: Callaba easy to use but not so intuitive in the beginning, it takes a little bit of time to understand the interface and how it works. The mobile application AWS do not offer a lot of options for managing Callaba.
Overall: I started using Callaba a year ago for my video streaming business and found it' not difficult to work both on the software, plan streaming events. it let us know if the stream is not poor and were start with a certain time and if not we were given the option to pull from backup via setting up bonding route. Now I'm also using Callaba for my organizing private broadcasts and it makes the process easy as I have streaming pipe configurations already there and I just import it.

"Great, as long as you don't re-encode" Posted 2021-12-08
Pros: Easy, fast product. Cheap too.
Lots of custom multiplexing and ingests. Way better than Restream.Cons: Even on c4.large, it cannot re-encode a single 1080p stream without dropping frames. Max CPU hits, fails.
Overall: Cool multiplex product. Strict limitations. No re-encoding limits this in a big way. Might as well use the small t2.medium
