About Ink DCS

Ink DCS is a fully featured Departure Control System for airlines and ground handlers to process passengers from the cloud. It has everything that large Low-Cost and Full-Service Carriers need to run mission-critical operations.

Modules include turnkey Web Check-in, Backup DCS, Ink Touch (a native iOS app), Kiosk Check-in and Bag Drop applications. Advanced features such as Interline Through Check-in (IATCI) and Interactive APIS enable complex operations. The comprehensive API allows airlines and other companies to build fully controllable systems on top of our headless platform. The desktop UI is browser-based. The fully integrated Mass and Balance System mirrors data across both DCS and Load Control functions.

    Pros: INK DCS’s ease of use allows us to keep agent training to a minimum. Its functionality aligns well with our operational requirements, making it an effective tool for our daily work.

    Cons: The development of customized functions occasionally took longer than anticipated.

    Overall: Since partnering with INK, our teams have connected and worked together like a close family. When challenges arise, we stand united and consistently find the right solutions. We have implemented INK DCS at several stations in record time, enabling Marabu to deploy INK across more than 70% of our network so far.

    Pros: BermudAir has been able to grow and improve with INK Innovations products and support. INK provides flexibility for services offered in its system, ability to have access anywhere and at any time, and they continue to develop based on the airline's needs. We recently opened an airport station with no capability to have designated check-in desks; INK came back with the perfect solution of using mobile devices and this continues to be a successful addition for our performance on a full time basis.

    Cons: The only con to mention is that more airlines are not using INK Innovation for their operation. One recommendation for the future of mobile devices would be to combine the printing of boarding passes and baggage tags to one device. This will allow the agents to better handle the phone and printing devices between two instead of three.

    Overall: BermudAir has been and will continue to be a top supporter of INK Innovation, and we look forward to our future growth together!

In practice, different standards are involved, so a single small printer for everything is not yet realistic. The focus is now on providing agents with a lighter, better-integrated kit. You are right to flag that initial configuration can feel complicated, especially when you are setting up multiple stations, handling rules, and integrations. A system with this level of control will never be completely “one click”, but the setup path should be clearer and easier to repeat. Based on feedback like yours, we are tightening our default templates, improving documentation, and offering more guided support from the implementation team so future deployments take less effort on your side.

    Pros: Easy to use, quick learning pattern, rich in useful functionality, no added nonsense options, modern IU, friendly admin options and reliable.

    Cons: We have found none so far. If anything could be improved is maybe the Weight and balance section, specifically the administration of the database.

    Overall: I love the modern and intuitive approach from this platform. They did break with the available industry standard and avoided creating another iteration of the known systems. Both the UI and the admin options are modern and a few steps ahead of the competition. The connectivity options are also a leap ahead in comparison to the rest.

    The system itself is continuously evolving, yet remains remarkably stable and low-maintenance — a true “set it and forget it” solution. Ink Innovation is a partner you can rely on without worry — the software simply works.

    A wide range of features rounds off the solution, leaving nothing to be desired.

    Cons: In recent years, Ink’s strategic focus has been on strengthening its mobile platform and broadening its offering through hardware integration. Consequently, visual enhancements to the desktop application have advanced at a slower pace, representing an area with clear potential for further development.

Knowing that the platform has been stable enough that you don't have to worry about it is exactly the kind of feedback a mission-critical system should earn. The shift in recent years towards mobile and hardware-light delivery has been intentional. We believe the airport environment is moving towards a smaller hardware footprint and more flexible ways of working. At the same time, your many years of hands-on experience with the desktop client are important as we design the next generation of delivery systems and solution layouts. Your product insight would be very valuable as we decide what to tackle first, to ensure those changes address real operational needs rather than just cosmetic updates.
