I would’ve rather spent the money on pickles and been more satisfied.

Unfortunately, Little Nightmares III is a really bad game.

Tarsier Studios intended Little Nightmares II to be the final game of the series, but Bandai had Supermassive Games develop the third one, and as expected, that completely ruined the game.

There are several issues that completely ruined my experience, and here they are:

Polishment: This game is finished just like all other Supermassive games (excluding the first Until Dawn and The Quarry); there are bugs everywhere. Many parts simply don’t connect with the rest (whether it be the story, scenes, or levels) and the story does not make any sense. Everything is just thrown at the player to decipher, but unlike LN I and II, there isn’t a good story to be interpreted here.

Co-op: This is another big problem. I played it with my girlfriend, and we lost more than two hours restarting Chapters 2 and 3 entirely just because we got stuck due to bugs. The co-op is also bad and not fun at all. We had many disconnections and lost a lot of gameplay time because of constant disconnects and locks on simple bugs, often because "we weren’t supposed to go there or do that" as if one of us should have been acting like an NPC following the other in single-player mode. Also, the co-op must be online, so you can't play via LAN, split-screen, or local co-op. You either play online on two different devices connected to the internet, or you can’t play at all (Supermassive is lazy). Its been three months since the launch and Supermassive didn't bothered to fix any of the reported game breaking glitches on steam community or reddit (Supermassive is lazy).

Scripted Deaths: Almost all deaths are scripted, so you must die two or three times before you see a box to hide in or understand what you should do. If you haven't died in that section yet, you will die many times until you figure it out. Sometimes you will die 10 times without having enough time to observe a room and understand where to hide or what to do.

Mechanics: The mechanics are basically a copy-paste of the first two games, and the only new mechanic (the bear) is so glitchy that I’d be happier if it weren't there. Also theres the combat system which isn't fun at all and feels completely unnecessary.

Enemies: The creatures are not fun; they are basically remixes of forms from the first and second games. There is nothing new, nothing scary or grotesque, and no intense chases since you know you will just keep dying until you learn the entire path. Also, there is no satisfaction in the ending for the enemies, as you simply escape them and never see them again.

Level Design: Just like the enemies, I feel like most of the levels are a remix of the first two installments. The puzzles are the same, just flipped in a slightly new environment that likely uses assets from the previous games. Even then, they are too easy and aren't fun at all.

Perspective: This game has a terrible problem with perspective. This affected the other games slightly, but in LN III, it is really bad. Many times you die or fall because you simply can’t see correctly. In some parts, the camera adjusts only AFTER you jump. It feels like the camera has the worst placement possible on purpose.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: This game launched with a level locked behind a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC that costs more than half the price of the base game. They literally cut a chapter of the game content to sell it at an even higher price, as if the game isn't already too expensive for what it offers.

If you are a big fan of Little Nightmares like my girlfriend and I, just wait for a really good sale or "go sailing" for this one. It isn't worth even half of the launch price. Believe me, I really tried to like this game, but nothing can make me believe this wasn't made just to drain fans money and deliver the worst product possible as fast and cheap as possible.

All that said, if you really want to play something like this, go play Reanimal (by Tarsier Studios). It is much cheaper right now and is everything a Little Nightmares fan would actually like.

It feels very hollow compared to the first two games, very much an immitation of what Little Nightmares was. It does not feel like the bosses are symbolic in any way, and the environments don't lend themselves to tell any sort of story. Albeit for the final level. Also very short for the full $60 price I paid. I never pre-order games and I should have known better. Turns out this game was made by a different developer and it all makes sense.
