Thank you all so much for your reviews, feedback and bug reports! We have packed a lot into this patch which will hopefully address the most glaring problems. Thank you again for your patience and detailed reports!!!

The latest update has fixes for:

Some character portraits not appearing in dialogue
Paralinguistics not playing for some characters has been fixed and volume tweaked
Ambient animal noises now play correctly
Storm ambience plays correctly
Menus no longer override keyboard focus if it initialises in mouse mode
Fixed bug where the control settings were not being loaded correctly on game launch
Items no longer fling far away when being switched out
PS5 controller capability added
Ability to switch controller glyphs in settings
We are now Steam Deck compatible! It has been registered as playable by Steam as dialogue may appear quite small but we will push a fix for this in the new year so the status moves from playable to verified.

Stuck in the Tutorial?

So, I've tried like 5 or 6 times to get past the tutorial now and I keep getting the same result every single time. I get to the point where they introduce the air currents and set you up to fly through the rings and it's fun. Stuck on Karo level?

I've reset multiple times to try and beat it. I get to the section with the glowing animals and such just fine but once I'm there, I can make it through the first 3, maybe 4 speed boost symbols before I suddenly lose momentum and can't reach the last one. So I have to fall back down, but the boosts dont work on the second try so I just end up being stuck unable to get back up. Was loving the game, and would love to know if this is a bug or if I just have a skill issue or something....

No way to turn off physical controller motion effecting movement

I'm using a PS5 controller with DSX and physically moving the controller in my hand effects the motion of the bird, which throws me off. Looked through the settings but there seems to be no option to turn his behaviour off. That's one thing, but there seems to be a bug effecting it as well in that some minor irl movement will force the bird + camera 100% up or 100% down. I'm talking neck-breaking up or down with no transition. It's incredibly jarring and has unfortunately has made it unplayable for me f...

Final island is glitchy for me

Made it through the storm, saw the Island ahead of me. Flew over, enjoying the wind current. Spotted someone to talk to! Tried to land; failed. Slowed down, feet dangling, literally flying head-first into the ground, nothing. No touchdown for talking. Move over the water...can land! But not, apparently, on the island. [Bug] Visual bug in circle at edges of the screen

Hello! (or perhaps I should say kia ora!) I'm enjoying the game, however playing today I have noticed a visual bug, pictured below: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3630298004 In the open area where you speak to a bunch of animals, sometimes a thin black line and a weird mesh-like effect would briefly appear in the sky, outside a circle in the centre of the screen. Thanks so much for playing Toroa: Skycall on release :’) still really hectic to see it being played in the wild, thank you all for your bug reports!! We are a very small team so really appreciate the detail, feedback, patience and understanding :)

We’ve just made an update to address some of these reported bugs:

Fix for the brown misty screen, if this does not work we’ll be implementing some updated graphics settings in another patch
Fix for issue where diving mode could get stuck on
Fix for back button not appearing at end of credits
Fix for audio getting stuck in underwater mode
Fixed some jitter on creatures moving along in corridors
Fixed a location in Āio where you could escape the level
Fixed an issue where hitting continue from a level would put you back in the previous level
Fix for issue loading into levels from level select where Toroa can be displaced before level load and the ability to pitch up is affected

I don't normally do reviews but I have to for this one. The music is absolutely wonderful, the flying is the smoothest flow state I've had in ages and the clouds are just this wonderful blend of fluffy and weirdly threatening! I haven't played much yet, but I'm already loving it!
