very very repetitive, gets boring real fast, kept playing, even more repetitive as you keep playing.....

Very fun. Great gameplay, unique visuals, satisfying movement and combat, fantastic music, and not too expensive.

The Rogue Prince of Persia comes from the original developers of Dead Cells, and if you spent any amount of time with that game it's impossible not to see the same DNA present throughout both titles. Both games are roguelite 2D Metroidvanias with emphases on platforming and melee combat, while unlocking new gear via collectables (that you can lose if you don't bank them before death), the way loadouts and equipment upgrades work, being able to recycle unwanted pick-ups into gold and several other systems in TRPOP are extremely similar to those of Dead Cells, and in many cases simply brought over exactly as they were. As a big fan of Dead Cells, I can't complain about this.

The big additions over Dead Cells are the Prince's ability to wall-run, air dash and perform a leap over enemies so that you can both evade their attacks and dish out your own, which makes playing this game even more fun and satisfying than even Dead Cells. Chaining together wall-runs, wall-climbs and air dashes while leaping over enemies just looks and feels really cool, even more so alongside TRPOP's striking art direction and awesome soundtrack.

One thing I will say about TRPOP is that, compared to Dead Cells, it's nowhere near as overstuffed with biomes and bosses to play through or weapons and gear to experiment with. Don't get me wrong, there is a decent amount of content there, but it feels miniscule compared to Dead Cells' armoury. Although, it is perhaps unfair to compare the two, seeing as Dead Cells benefits from close to a decade's worth of development, updates and expansions.

If I had to nitpick, I'd point out that there are some weird spelling and grammar mistakes present, which just comes across as sloppy. Also, not an hour before writing this, I somehow slipped through a floor and ended up teleported into an area I shouldn't be in yet. It's not game-breaking or anything, but it has rendered two achievements unobtainable for me, unless I start a new save file.

Other than those minor bugbears though, I thoroughly enjoyed The Rogue Prince of Persia. It maybe won't have the staying power of other roguelites or roguelikes, but it's a stunning and mostly immaculately made game.
