About the game:

Renaine is a game about overcoming failure. Aine, the Phoenix Knight, is tasked by fate to destroy the legendary Dragon. Should she die, she will return. Again and again until the Dragon is slain.

Hop, Bop and Roll through Lineria, the world of Renaine! Chat up a cast of colorful characters! Solve problems! Fail! A lot! Overcome failure! Fail again! Lots of fun in Renaine!

Bug Report

Howdy, not sure where's the appropriate place for bug reports, hope this is fine. Anyway, the game crashes for me when I try talking to the mouse in the underground that you need to do kind of a tricky jump to reach (rolljump off the ledge with an eggbird, then roll midjump again). Otherwise game seems like fun times :) Can't wait for release....

A new update was released to the Steam Festival Demo

An in-game options menu was added to the pause screen
You can now disable screen shake from this pause menu
The camera now moves smoother when following Aine when she gains elevation

Holy crap that was fun

I really liked the demo. The look of the game is great, it's very well animated, and I loved the music. And the writing was very witty. There was a lot getting thrown at the player (platforming, quests, shopkeepers, maps, secrets) that I didn't try too hard to put all together, I mainly just rolled with what came at me and enjoyed it....

Some thoughts about the demo

I tried the demo and liked it. Some random thoughts: 1. The game is too loud (compared to the other apps). 2. The game hanged for me twice: while talking to Shroomella in the forest and while exiting the town. 3. Chompies are fun, but a bit too powerful. I'm not sure if you should allow buying more than one of them. 4. Also chompies mess up the combo training. 5. Sprite of the map to the bee hill has one weird-looking frame. 6. The game doesn't tell that menu opens by pressing Enter. This should default t...

Combat thoughts

Cool game, has charming art and music. I do think the combat needs a bit of polishing. As it stands the crouch attack is strictly incorrect to use, it covers less total area and is within the area covered by the normal attack and its subsequent combo hits. This while also being slower. Some adjustment needs to be made to either/both its speed and area hit. A simple solution would be to just make its hitbox longer so a player might have a usecase for it instead of a normal attack chain. Further, the upw...
