The game launched with hundreds of dollars worth of ♥♥♥♥ to buy in the shop day one, that should tell you everything you need to know.

(Please stop taking away the normal online mode for these festivals, we don't all like them!)

My problem with the game isn't that it's greedy, my problem is that they're shafting the global playerbase by making the global version of the game way more greedy than the Chinese servers to the point it borders on racist. There's massive laundry lists of changes they made online, and for the sake of brevity, I'm just going to copy and paste one I found on Reddit, keep in mind none of these issues existed in the CN servers.

List of P5X Global issues:

• ⁠No guarantee banner at launch

• ⁠Horrendous soft pity

• ⁠Accelerated schedule with no mention of compensation

• ⁠Backloaded rewards for synergies, incentivizing putting money at the start of the game (fomo)

• ⁠Level requirements to continue the story (i.e get to lv 30 to beat Palace 1 boss) which was NOT there in other versions of the game. Obviously playing on fomo to get players to buy/use stamina

• ⁠Horrendous pop-up ads that were NOT present in the other versions of the game

• ⁠Higher prices for the Beginner sale packs, the Puppet one is 5 dollars, but I’m pretty sure it was only 1 dollar in other versions

• ⁠CN Servers in new update gives 10 limited character pulls in a 7-day login event, meanwhile global only gets 7 weapon pulls in a 7- day login event instead.

• ⁠Many characters pull sources were replaced with weapon pulls or jewels.

• ⁠"Limited" Standard units no longer being put in the standard banner after banner ends immediately.

• ⁠Marian cognite and Marian's weapon won't be added to Lufel's Business Plan rewards

• ⁠Reduced patch release rewards compared to CN servers (600 for CN servers while 100 for Global)

• ⁠Lack of communication between players

• ⁠Fumbling EN localizations and 1.1 livestream EN translations.

The reviews saying the game isn't finished don't realize the game is in beta and that's really funny to me.

TL;DR Shadow Generations is around 5 hours long and not worth $50

Long version: This release is a massive disappointment. From a fundamental misunderstanding of Shadow's character, to attempting to "Celebrate" his past whilst being ashamed of it. Black Doom and Mephiles are given the most lackluster, generic boss fight dialogue, while Black Doom himself acts as the main antagonist for the game, though isn't treated with proper respect at all. His voice actor sounds nothing like him, his dialogue is incredibly out of character, and despite how intelligent he was in his original game, his big master plan is "fight shadow and win" despite knowing outright that won't work since it didn't last time.

They also mention Black Doom "will attempt to take over Shadow's mind and body" though this never comes up, and is never mentioned again. His literal entire plan is just to give Shadow a bunch of powers then fight him, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Shadow himself is written incredibly generic as just the "Antihero cool guy", disregarding characterization in previous games like Sonic 06 and Shadow The Hedgehog.

Speaking of Shadow The Hedgehog (the game), it has NO representation in this game. There is not one single level from the game, nor did they bring back music from the game for Black Doom's boss battle. It even feels deliberate, as Shadow says during the Black Doom boss fight "I'm Shadow The Hedgehog! This is my destiny!" which is frustratingly close to "I'm Shadow The Hedgehog! This is who I am!", which he said to Black Doom during their final confrontation in Shadow The Hedgehog.

No respect to the character's past characterization and growth, or anything of the sort.

On top of all that, the game is only 5 hours long which for $50 that is CRIMINAL.

I really really wish I could refund this, they really made JUST enough content to push you over that refund line so you're left incredibly dissatisfied and can't refund it, they pulled the exact same scam with Sonic Frontiers.
