I also buy too many games. I know, I have a problem...

I "mostly" stopped buying anime on DVD and/or BluRay and finally subscribed to HiDive, Funimation, and other online streaming services like Hulu and NetFlix. It's cheaper that way! Also, check out RetroCrush! They seem to be adding lots of retro anime titles to their streaming service like 70's, 80's, and even 90's releases!
