Battleship But Pokemon - By: Peebr_Koifish

Description
What if instead of boats you were looking for pokemon? This spin on the game adds a variety of new shaped pieces to play with and item cards to assist in your search to catch'em all.

Rules:

Build a team of six pokemon (one 2 spacer, two 3s, two 4s and one 5) and spread them across your board along with 4 Pokeballs and a Masterball!
(No rotating or flipping your pieces as it allows you to deduce what Pokemon are in play as you shoot)

If you get a hit your turn ends (unless a certain item is played)

If you hit a Pokeball on your opponents board you draw a useful item card.

If you hit your opponents Masterball clear the entire row or column, your choice!

When a Pokemon "faints"/ is sunk announce its identity to your opponent.

But of course you can always play with house rules if these ones don't jive with you!

If you enjoy you can support me on youtube :)

This is a great idea for a game, but I am not smart enough to understand how to play.

With all the suggestions and variant rules for pieces, a nice addition would be options for bigger board. A smaller board can easily be replicated by "banning" edges, but a 12x12 could have potential if playing with things like additional pieces and traps that could clutter a 10x10 (while also keeping 10x10 the default)

Aside from that, the "simplest" thing that could be done is just new shapes. There's 19 fixed Tetrominoes (4-spacer) and 63 fixed Pentominoes (5-spacer); of course 11 new 4-spacers and 56 new 5-spacers is a lot so I don't expect that many

I would suggest against diagonal pieces, it's a lot more combinations and that feels more against the idea of Battleship itself than any of the changes this version already has. I agree with the comment suggesting Typhlosion and Octillery. I think a Meganium laying down would work as a horizontal and a Feraligatr with the tail sticking out would be an upside-down Typhlosion piece; this way the starter trio would be complete

Unwritten rule, is to shuffle the item deck every pull, and to put the cards back. to get the possibility to potentially get 4 substitute dolls

if you update to gen 2, Typhlosion could be a cool 5er. its like a vertical lickitung (4 tall), but with the second from the top on one side being like the frill shooting out.

could also do Octillery as the plus.

this version of battleship ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocks and I can't wait to see what you do with it!

A suggestion if you add Gen 2 pokemon, especially if you want to add abilities for pokemon, is for the legendary dogs.
If your opponent lands a hit on a legendary dog but then misses on a subsequent turn, or hits a different pokemon, you get to reposition the legendary dog to another legal position on the board and clear any hits off of them. This would represent the fact that the dogs often would run away in Gen 2 and you would have to track them down on a different route.

LFFusion. You need to own Tabletop Simulator first. Then you need to "Subscribe to this" afterwards when you run Table Top Simulator. go through the tutorial then do multiplayer. Make a room name it password etc. Then goto Workshop and it should be there to open. Let me know if that helps enough. Super simplified insutrctions so i get it if you're still confused
