Re: switching organizations - how do to keep my post history, rank, etc
Thanks for the response. Can everything be transferred directly from one work account to another work account? Both accounts would be Microsoft 365 accounts, however I won't have access to both accounts since some time will pass between employers.1.4KViews0likes1CommentRe: teams live event participants hitting core meeting lobby
Yeah, it's as I thought - When a user with a Teams account external to the organization is invited as a presenter and tries to join without external presenter turned on, they get the "This event is in xxxx. To join you'll need to be in that org too."3.4KViews0likes2CommentsRe: teams live event participants hitting core meeting lobby
I was under the impression that external presenters meant anyone outside the org, including external Teams orgs. Will have to test this! Also, the simple fix to a presenter link getting out into the wild (it's going to happen) would be to allow organizers to disable the popup / lobby sound. That can get pretty intrusive, not only during live events but regular Teams meetings as well.3.4KViews0likes3CommentsRe: teams live event participants hitting core meeting lobby
Yeah that seems to be it. That needs to be fixed, there's no control over that link once it's sent out, even though it says "DON'T FORWARD THIS!" I have a case open with Premier, will let them know we figured out why it's happening. Thank you for the response!3.4KViews0likes6Commentsswitching organizations - how do to keep my post history, rank, etc
Is there a way to maintain your post history, rank, contacts etc when switching organizations? I'll be moving on from my existing organization and would like to transfer my current Tech Community account from my existing org > personal gmail account for a few weeks > new organization. Is there any way to do that? I tried the steps in the FAQ, but that doesn't seem to apply to an org switch. In Settings, I changed addresses in both the Email (received and verified) and Personal Information sections.1.4KViews0likes3Commentsteams live event participants hitting core meeting lobby
Has anyone had an issue where Teams live event participants are hitting the core event meeting lobby instead of getting the attendee experience? This has happened now in two of our events recently (think about the fun of 900 people connecting and getting the lobby admittance ding every 10 seconds) and we're stumped as to why. I tested to see if someone who isn't supposed to be a presenter accidentally gets the presenter link and confirms that, even with that link, they still connect to the attendee space, so having the link doesn't automatically admit you as a producer or presenter.Solved3.7KViews1like8CommentsRe: does meeting transcription work on virtual desktop?
Good question. This account is not in TAP. I noticed I was on a pretty old version of Teams, so I updated - and now the captions option is gone. All that is left is recording. So as it stands, on the latest version of Teams, we can do recording + transcription + live captions on physical, but only recording on virtual. You're right, this is confusing, and lack of documentation doesn't help our cause.3.8KViews0likes4CommentsRe: does meeting transcription work on virtual desktop?
ChristianJBergstrom Thanks for the response. I'm referring to transcription, not live captions. Live captions is working in our virtual environment. The option to transcribe the meeting does not exist like it does on our physical devices. Virtual: Physical:3.7KViews0likes6Commentsdoes meeting transcription work on virtual desktop?
We have a user who reported they no longer have the option to start meeting transcription on their VMWare virtual desktop (Teams optimized for VMWare). I am able to reproduce this on my VD. Admittedly, I never use it in a virtual environment, but should it work / did it work and then stop working? Also, I could swear the option to record / transcribe was recently linked together, but now I'm seeing it as two separate options again. Are there live changes being made to transcription?4.1KViews0likes9CommentsRe: No new messages in desktop client after switching organisation
There are two health advisories for this that could be directly related. Both have been closed. TM278944 - closed 20 Sep 2021 (this TM includes a post incident report) TM285554 - closed 21 Sep 2021 Title: Some users can't view chat messages in the Microsoft Teams desktop client User Impact: Users couldn't see chat messages in the Microsoft Teams desktop client. More info: To bypass the impact, affected users could have used the Microsoft Teams web app, mobile app, or signed out and back in to the desktop client. Final status: We developed and deployed a fix to remediate the impact with chat messages and slowness when switching chat windows. We've advised that any user sign out and restart their clients to ensure they have the latest version of Microsoft Teams. Please contact support and file a support case if you are continuing to experiences issues, and we'll resume our analysis of the problem.8.6KViews2likes2CommentsTeams Meeting (not Live Event) Q and A - anonymous?
Are there plans to either provide anonymous Q&A in the upcoming Teams Meeting Q&A app, or is there an API available to perhaps create a PowerApp that could send anonymous questions to the Q&A app? We'd really like to get away from Live Events for smaller events, but people really like the anonymous Q&A part of Live Events, so we're stuck using them until something better becomes available.18KViews4likes8CommentsRe: Teams Gets Automatic Meeting Recording Option
This just hit our tenant. Great concept, but needs work. The first 750 person meeting already created a bunch of questions. We had people joining and leaving beforehand, starting and ending recordings. Also no one is able to find the recording of the entire meeting since so many people joined and left in advance. We checked for the first join in the TAC as well as attendance log, but still unable to find the actual recording. It's not one of the five recordings showing for the meeting, all of which were from 5 to 30 seconds. Wondering what others experience has been so far!1.2KViews0likes4Comments"Do not connect to any Windows Update Internet locations", but allow Windows Store access
I hope this is the right place to ask this question - Question #1: In a scenario where Windows updates are managed on-premise via WSUS, is there an alternative combination of group policies that could be applied to provide the security that "Do not connect to any Windows Update Internet locations" provides, without breaking updates to Windows Store apps that have been deployed by SCCM? I'm looking for a solution to keep store apps updated automatically, while continuing to manage Windows updates via WSUS. Keeping apps updated manually because they can't update from the store is not scalable with this GPO enabled is not scalable in an enterprise. Question #2: When updates are configured to come from WSUS, if "Do not connect to any Windows Update Internet locations" is enabled, does it actually prevent download and install of updates from Windows Update? The description of this GPO only states the following: "Even when Windows Update is configured to receive updates from an intranet update service, it will periodically retrieve information from the public Windows Update service to enable future connections to Windows Update, and other services like Microsoft Update or the Microsoft Store. <snip> When enabled, this policy will disable the functionality described above, and may cause connection to public services such as the Microsoft Store, Windows Update for Business and Delivery Optimization to stop working." Thanks.5.4KViews0likes0Comments
