Trademark policy
In effect since the Sept. 24, 2025Capitalized terms are defined in the TOS.
The "tenzu" word mark is protected in many countries around the world. It is the exclusive property of BIRU, as are the associated logos and domain names. By law, trademark owners are responsible for policing their trademarks and preventing the use of confusingly similar names by third parties.
As such, this document outlines the Trademark Policy enforced by BIRU on restrictions around the commercial use of the Tenzu™ trademark. The proper use of trademarks reliably assures consumers about the quality of the associated products or services and where they have been derived from. Protecting Intellectual property rights for an open source project is particularly important. Anyone can change and/or redistribute the source code, so it’s essential that only the original product, or variations that have been approved by BIRU, use the trademarks, so as not to mislead others in the community.
To be clear, the GNU AGPL v3 free license does not include an implied right or license to use BIRU's Intellectual property rights.
We do all this to protect the very business model that allows us to continue developing Tenzu for you.
If you have any doubts about your intended use of the Tenzu™ trademark, please don't hesitate to contact us by email at [email protected].
You can freely use the source code made available to you under the terms of its license, either for non-commercial purposes, or for commercial purposes as long as you replace trademarked content (including and without limitation: the Tenzu name and logo).
Allowed uses of "Tenzu

However, if you violate the Trademark Policy, or otherwise take actions that may compromise the goodwill or Intellectual property rights of BIRU, or expose BIRU to liability, BIRU may require you to cease all use of any of its property rights, regardless of the uses allowed in this policy.
