  • The Asterix Health team are heading to Birmingham next week! On Tuesday, we will be at stand 17 at Management in Practice Birmingham, and Harriet Bradley and Prash Thurairatnam MBA (Managing Director, Tudor Lodge Health Centre) are going to be giving a talk at 13:55. Come say hello if you're around! And then on Wednesday, we will be at stand P5 at Pulse PCN Birmingham, and Harriet Bradley and Julian Titz will be giving a talk at 13:20 on the main stage. Both of the talks are about modern workforce strategies to meet demand: we'll be sharing lessons and insights from GP practices on innovative ways to think about staffing. We're then going to be at NHS ConfedExpo in Manchester on Wednesday and Thursday as well. We can't wait to see some new and familiar faces alike - drop us a message if you'll be attending either. 👋

  • 💥 We're excited to share that Dr Harriet Bradley joins Asterix Health as Medical Director. In this role, Harriet will lead our clinical strategy, governance, and service delivery as we scale to support more NHS practices nationally. Harriet brings a wealth of experience to Asterix, having spent the last decade in senior clinical leadership roles across both the NHS and private sector. She joined Livi UK in 2019 as Medical Director, later also taking on the Director of Commercial Operations role. Under her clinical leadership, Livi grew to serve 11 million patients nationally and became the first digital healthcare provider in the UK to receive an Outstanding rating from the CQC. Most recently, Harriet was Medical Director at GP Pathfinder Clinics, where she oversaw growth from 80,000 to over 120,000 registered patients. Before that, Harriet worked at Virgin Care as a clinical bid director, leading local engagement across complex NHS contracts. Harriet is a Sloan Programme graduate from London Business School, and continues to work with senior business students there on healthcare transformation. Announcing our oversubscribed £2.1M pre-seed round, led by TriplePoint VC, with participation from D2 Fund, DLBVentures, Entrepreneurs First, Basis Capital and an incredible group of angels. Since 2015, the number of patients per fully qualified GP has risen by 15% (RCGP), while 2 in 3 doctors say they have considered working abroad (GMC). Asterix is the first and only company approved under new NHS regulation to hire GMC-registered GPs based abroad. Today, Asterix GPs support practices serving 250,000 patients with time-consuming clinical admin and telephone consultation tasks, via our proprietary DoctorOS platform. This funding will be used to accelerate onboarding of new NHS practices and expand Asterix's network of remote GMC-registered GPs, including NHS-trained doctors who are eager to return to frontline care from abroad. • We're excited to share our first case study - a reflection of what's possible when the right clinical resource is applied to the right problem. Tudor Lodge Health Centre is a well-run, forward-thinking practice. The challenge of abnormal test management wasn't a sign of poor operations; it's a structural issue affecting practices across the country. What Prash's experience shows is how much capacity can be unlocked when that problem is owned end-to-end by qualified doctors. Full write-up in the comments, including the implementation detail and what the practice is exploring next.

Prash runs Tudor Lodge Health Centre, an 11,000-patient practice in SWL. He's a smart operator - early adopter of digital telephony, automated normal labs, external triage. But abnormal test management was still draining 3 GP Session per week. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 £𝟳𝟮𝗸 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. He knew what he needed. Not another AI that sends tasks back into the practice. Not another locum that doesn't know local guidance. 𝗛𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆-𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗲𝗻𝗱-𝘁𝗼-𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀. Four weeks after going live with Asterix: → 30% cost reduction vs internal GP delivery → 80% of abnormal labs managed remotely → 3–4 GP sessions freed every week → 100% audit compliance throughout 𝗧𝗵𝗲 Asterix Health 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗣𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁. Routine clinical admin and follow-up consultations are handed off to doctors qualified to own it. We've written it all up - the implementation, what made it work, and what Tudor Lodge is exploring next in our first case study. 👉 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴, 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀! cc Max Thilo, Dan, Farah, Professor Mike Bewick, Imaania, Jamil, Keith, Andy, Nitisha, Ethan #NHS #PrimaryCare #GPWorkforce #Asterix

Highlights: 80% of abnormal labs managed remotely, £72k clinical time recovered annually, 30% cost reduction versus in-practice GP delivery, 3–4 GP sessions freed per week, and full handoff achieved within 4 weeks of pilot launch.
  • 💥 We’re excited to share that Professor Mike Bewick joins Asterix Health as Strategic Medical Lead. In this role, we look forward to working with Mike as he strengthens our governance foundations and helps us improve our end-to-end accreditation processes. He will work with the team as we launch new customers in this next stage of growth. Mike brings a wealth of experience to Asterix, having worked as Deputy Medical Director responsible for Primary Care at NHS England, as well as working as a GP and GP Partner for 20+ Years. At NHS England he oversaw the implementation of the Revalidation Programme for doctors, and was the Senior Responsible Officer for all GPs nationally. During his tenure with the Royal College of General Practitioners, Mike led the launch of the single-route MRCGP assessment for new GPs. Mike has held senior positions in strategy development and commissioning in primary and secondary care, as well as the development of UCLan digital health courses. 🗞️ Last week Saturday we made the front page of The Telegraph. Now, hundreds (!) of incredible GPs around the world want to work with us*. They got some things right and others wrong, but actually missed the most important part of the story: The real story is that Max and I founded Asterix Health at Entrepreneurs First in 2024 after navigating serious health conditions. We experienced firsthand the frustration of workforce shortages in primary care - with GPs spending 50% of their time on clinical admin. 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘅 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗣 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. To achieve this, you need to free up in-practice GPs from that clinical admin work completely. Not another AI tool that makes them 7% more productive in a staged setting, or service that hides more admin work under the guise of productivity. GPs supporting practices remotely creates real time for in-practice GPs. ❗ 𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘅. 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘂𝘀. Personally, I'm incredibly excited about how new, highly-qualified clinical capacity can enable better preventative and proactive care for the entire population. 👉 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗚𝗣 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗚𝗣 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝘄𝗲'𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁 Best Practice Show 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸. Sorry! 🏖️ 🙃 Thanks for the support over the last few weeks Dan, Farah, Jamil, Imaania, Ross, Joe, Philip, Balint, Keith, Andy, Jonny, Rachel, Kate + more!

💥 I'm looking for a Founder's Associate at Asterix Health. This is a role for someone who wants to do meaningful work with an eye to building their own company one day. 👇 You'll work closely with me across all things GTM, Sales and BizOps. I expect you to context-switch and own projects from day 1. The scope of the role will expand. No two days will be the same, and every single day matters because we are working on the biggest problem in healthcare: the shortage of qualified doctors. 📍 We're in-person by design, working from a new space in Shoreditch. This sort of role brought me into Startupland in the first place. Asymmetric career upside and the opportunity to have way more responsibility than you would traditionally have anywhere else. I know I benefitted massively from an opportunity like this. If you're ambitious, hands-on and want to see what it actually takes to build a company, I'd love to chat. Apply below. Tagging a few people who have given me asymmetric opportunities in the past (thanks!) :) Max Thilo Daniel Schulte-Hillen Kitty Mayo Jonny Clifford Matt Clifford Valerio Siviero zoran kokolanski Olivia Hupfeld Alaister Mortlock Tim Hermes David Rizor Joe Mcilwaine Ross Dyer-Smith #hiring #healthtech #nhs #startup

Asterix Health, led by Julian and Max, is a company I've invested in that is trying to solve the biggest problem in healthcare: the shortage of qualified doctors. Their doctors already care for 300k+ patients in the UK. Now they're hiring for a few Founding Engineer roles to build out AI tools to support them. Founding AI / Product Engineer - https://lnkd.in/erJusp6T Founding Lead Engineer - https://lnkd.in/e3K_UqEK All roles in-person in Shoreditch, with equity, benefits etc. They're backed by EF, and I joined with their (oversubscribed) pre-seed this summer. Ping me, or reach out to Julian or Alaister directly, with any questions.
