Like the game so far, but passing up Erin when he has a pass to bang it out instead of making it at least a choice for the player feels kinda like a forced decision though.
New update (0.2) gives you some much needed insight into the MC's hatred for demons which is much appreciated, as well as advances his bond with Red to where it makes sense as to why it kinda feels like he "second guesses" himself about Red. Though I still feel like his nature early game feels off and I still hold the belief that a couple scenes around town before the disappearance would be effective in remedying that "off" feeling, even if they're short.
It also adds to the worldbuilding a tiny bit more. Showing off and talking about a few other races. So I'm assuming the game's going for a "learn as you go" type thing. Which is alright, starts confusing but gets marginally less confusing as you go on. Though it may sometimes take a while to do so with that type of approach.
That's about it. Other than that first thing, the update was pretty good and enjoyable. Also showed that the MC wasn't a pushover which is always nice in these games.
Very good game (as usual). If you read this and want to know if the game is for you, a quick rundown:
The renders are very good, especially illumination and shader wise. It is Koi, don't get me wrong, but it is well-executed Koi and you will feel the beauty and the horrors of this fantasy world.
The character and dialogue writing are very, very good, especially on v0.2. Vee knows how to make you understand the motivations and inner workings of each character. The main LI of this game, in particular, has surreal chemistry with the MC, which makes for a very fun experience.
The worldbuilding and lore are decent and have enough to keep you engaged. Nothing you didn't saw before, except by the actual theme (prejudice) and the sensible writing.
If you are looking for sexual content, currently, it has only two scenes at the beginning. Like Vee's other game (Charikiss), the focus isn't on the sex, but rather, at the emotional connection of the couple. It goes without saying that it doesn't has NTR or anything like that.
Currently, this game has 2 hours and a half of content, and while this is not too much, it should give you enough to make your heart happy and your mind thinking about some serious questions regarding what means to fight for what is right.
RAAAAH ends too soon yet again. That said, this update has my favorite thing in all of fantasy media: slaver beating. Just as god and Abraham Lincoln intended.

Ok, so after reading the comments and playing the game for myself I have to say I kinda agree with some of the comments. I take this game more as a very early demo used to gauge interest/show off something. Now, I want to make one thing abundantly clear, that doesn't mean I dislike it, that's just how I'll be talking about it in this comment. And it does it's job of that fairly well as it's gotten me interested in where it might go.
With that in mind, it mainly focuses on introducing some of the characters (MC, his wife, his kids, and the main demon girl "Red"), as well as the main overarching plotline (finding out where the entire town disappeared to, especially the MC's wife and kids). However, it does feel a bit disjointed with the worldbuilding. You're kind of thrown into this fantasy world without any of the explanations that games in these settings do. You don't know the planet you're on, the continent, the kingdom, etc. You don't even know why whatever kingdom you're part of is at war with the demons other than "they eat people." Which makes it seem like ordinary fantasy racism. Especially with the MC, who seemingly second-guesses himself at every corner despite being a trained and (probably) moderately decorated soldier in the war against the demons. He shows an IMMENSE hatred for demons to where he constantly contemplates whether or not he should kill Red for being one, despite her appearing to be harmless. It's as Comfy Cherry said, he shows this hatred, then throws a joke or two at her and acts kind of friendly, then goes back to basically telling her straight to her face that he's going to murder her and it feels a bit off.
I believe in order to fix some of that, maybe a split to the prologue may help. Take what's in the game now as a "Prologue Part 2," when the game actually begins, and show off some of what the MC experienced in his 4+ years of service in the "Prologue Part 1." You could also combine that part 1 with the sort of introduction to the fantasy world, including things like "these are the races of this world, this is the magic, here's the kingdoms, world, continents, relationships between the kingdoms and various races, maybe what their focuses are (science, military, merchant, diplomatic, etc)," and so forth. ChariKiss didn't need an introduction because it took place in a modern day/modern day adjacent setting and gradually introduced the other aspects.
Now back to that "Prologue Part 1," after the intial introduction, maybe have it also demonstrate the MC's kind of second-guess-ish nature in some way? Have him show some remorse or acceptance that not EVERY demon is evil? Maybe he comes across a demon family just trying to escape the violence and he decides to spare them or something? As well as various scenes showcasing WHY he might hold this, seemingly, undeserved hatred towards demons. It might make it a bit darker and if that's against your vision, then maybe just show a bit of the aftermath instead of the process itself? More of the ruined buildings, refugees, maybe a village or two decimated by the demon's armies?
The MC's wife seems to hold a lot of sway over him to (he's basically just THAT in love with her), so since he's going to be in town for a few weeks as part of his break from active duty, you could have a few scenes between the trip to the market and the disappearance where he observes and interacts with Red a couple of times over the course of a few days, maybe asking some of the townsfolk about her too? That way his actions towards her could then be shifted from "seemingly random" to "I don't want to upset my wife" or "MAYBE, just MAYBE, you're harmless."
Sorry, for all this by the way. I hope it didn't come across as negative, it's meant more as criticism to try and help the game succeed in some way. It's intrigued me and I want to see where it goes, yet I do see some of the problems that people have had with it too. I just hope it can overcome those and succeed is all. Hence, my over extensive rambling.
Game is just starting, so I can’t give it more than 4*, but I enjoyed what’s there so far. I don’t agree with the xenophobia of the MC, but I get it. And as a narrative device, even an overdone one perhaps, it gives him a character flaw to grow through. Based on what he’s seen, demons are absolutely monsters to him. Even the way Red (nickname for the yet-unnamed demon girl you meet) talks, she’s got a clearly not-human way of thinking and speaking that Vee does really well to convey in a manner that keeps her cute and likeable for the reader, but still makes her sound very much “other”. Looking forward to more in the future.

I hate racism being a main plot point, especially fantasy racism, I'm so tired of it (like for real is there one fantasy that doesn't have extreme racism as a plot point, it's either humans hate everything not human, elves hate everything not elf, everyone hates humans, or in the case of this "demons are evil") and that being 90% of the mc's personality really sucked any chance of me enjoying this out but I wanted to see how it was once the cute lamia girl got introduced so pushed through and eventually started just skipping his interactions with the demon girl before long and well...
some genuine criticism tho, [spoiler alert] the mc's interactions with the demon girl make no sense, it starts of with the intro bringing up his seething hatred for demons and that they all need to die, his first reaction upon seeing her is to tell is family to leave and he will kill it, then as soon as he has the opportunity to do so he doesn't kill her (obviously she can't die if you want him to fuck her or even become a love interest but everything he has thought so far is basically "kill all demons") then when he decides to let her live he's immediately joking around with her despite still seeing her as an "it" and seriously considering killing her just to be safe, even tho he has no real motivation to keep her alive (he doesn't believe she's responsible for what happened anymore therefore not knowing where they are and he doesn't see her as capable of helping him find them, as well as still seeing her as a potential threat).
basically mc is an insufferable bigoted asshole not only to my displeasure but in complete disregard for how you want the plot to progress, he's a completely seething demon hating soldier until you want him to spare the one demon that is actually shown to us, then he's just flinging insults and joking around with the thing he hates most in the world
also side note on mc's first seeing the demon girl, the story seems to imply he has ptsd about what the demons have done during the war and yet upon seeing something that is very likely a recurring nightmare, a demon in the middle of town right next to his family, he doesn't react as extremely as his opinions and mental state are portrayed in my opinion, he just goes very protective, where with how much trauma and hatred he is portrayed to have I'd expect him to genuinely try to kill her so she doesn't get any chance to do all the horrible things he's 100% convinced she will definitely do, ofcourse his reaction makes sense for a generic bigoted soldier seeing an "enemy" in his town but not for one that seems to be as traumatised as him, heck if he started beating her after he'd first seen her and had the guards pull him off her just to see her in tears, and see his wife and kids be horrified by what he did, then the way he ended up treating her makes some sense still not trusting and still hateful but a tinge of guilt to make him not do anything worse than he already had (not that I want to see that just some things that don't add up to me)

they're completely different genres, and this one seems to want to take itself alot more seriously (sometimes... it starts off and at points seems to but at other times seems to want to go the full comedy route and I'm pretty sure that's the main cause of my issues, it seems like it wants to be darker and more serious while still being just as light hearted and goofy as charikiss which just doesn't work), charikiss doesn't have a single male character so their ability to write male characters is an unknown, also the current latest version of charikiss has a very strange plot twist that I'm very unsure of.
so sure charikiss is great, but doesn't really prove anything for a completely different story, with vastly different themes
Looks very promising so far, writing has definitely improved and there are many things to notice or think about, trying to catch the setups and clues on characters. Overall the quality difference is greatly noticeable (renders, storytelling, narrative, designs, music choices), though this game is very different from charikiss, even disregarding hex and gex. Definitely looking forward to more updates
Glad to be here at the very start of your project, the preview of the lamia girl on Discord piqued my interest, and now the story premise itself seems intriguing. Looking forward to seeing what you develop it into from here on out.
