I have worked freelance / consulting in big data and analytics as needed for various projects for 18 years (there wasn’t much available when I started) and decided recently to study more to advance my skills.

I am enjoying the books by this author. I love the bits of history and practical uses mixed into the concise and easy to follow instructions.

I bought this book cos it was cheap. After reading it I'd say its great value for money. Really easy to follow and well written.

I’m studying data science at a boot camp/ 3 month online program. I have no computer science experience. This book is a greater resource to explain the fundamentals of data science. Easy to read. Great explanations that are straight to the point.You can learn some terms that are used in data science. Highly recommend.

Good introduction to data analytics covering the major data analytics topics. I especially liked the section at the end with python examples as well as recommendations for future reading. While the book does not provide a deep dive into the topics, it is a good read for those interested in this subject.

Author is right in that he doesn't tell you that you're going to be a data scientist over night - as data mining is a long and challenging discipline to master – but at the same time I think this book is definitely a great lead-in to the subject for guys and girls just starting

Data Science is bloody complicated. I've spent 3 weeks of my holiday break on Quora and reading my textbook for next term trying to piece it all together. This book won't win awards for advanced theories but is a great easy-to-follow intro to the subject for beginners and people like me.

I'm studying Data Analytics at level 6 (British University). I thought this may be useful for clarification. So far, I've read two chapters, so the review is based on progress so far.

It could be read by an absolute beginner, as the title states, but it is a useful supplement. At the end there is a full programme in Python to try out - not used it yet. There is also extra downloadable resources plus a number of useful links, for further research.

I recommend this to anyone with an interest in analytics.
