Organizations Involved

Real estate investing has been the sole focus of Metropolitan Real Estate since its founding in 2002. Today, MRE oversees more than $2.5 billion of client capital in private equity real estate partnerships focused on the U.S. and non-U.S. Markets.

MRE is made up of value investors who believe that superior long-term returns in real estate can be achieved through rigorous analysis and deep knowledge of local markets. Therfore, the website of the organization is a window to the real estate services which they provide to their investors.

MRE wanted a CMS application that allowed their staff to easily upload information for their investors. They wanted the ability to upload news, professional details, case studies, products, publications, featured papers, manager spotlights, and much more content for their investors without any technical hassle.

About the project

Goal
The goal of the website was to develop a robust, secure and flexible CMS application for MRE Staff and provide them ability to manage content through backend without any technical expertise.

We thereby needed to provide the staff with the facility to:

• Upload news, professional details, case studies, products, publications, featured paper, manager spotlight, Investment opportunity, articles information through backend.
• Create featured content and assign this on any specific page.
• Interact with MRE by filling up the contact us form.
• Categories publication data access for anonymous and registered users.
• Set Meta keywords for each page through baking.

Outcome
Icreon Tech Inc. (New York) selected Drupal to create a customized CMS platform that is interactive, easy to use and provides an inclusive user experience for all its stakeholders. The result was a fresh and modern web design that allowed website users to access a vast repository of content quickly and easily.

Through the website, the staff of the Metropolitan Real Estate can easily administer, mobilize and publish huge amounts of data. The custom CMS allows users to:

  • Create, update and manage website content
  • Manage press releases
  • Manage case studies
  • Manage featured content
  • Manage product information
  • Upload articles and profession details
  • Manage publication for public and restricted access
  • Manage feature content slide show

In addition, we allowed the administrators of the website to set user roles and permissions to ensure improved workflow for content authors and timely updating of information.

For this application development, we have used Pantheon hosting services.

With the successful delivery of the website, Icreon provided Metropolitan real estate with a dynamic website that stands true to their vision.

Why Drupal was chosen

Drupal 7.22 was the platform of choice because it provided flexible, feature-rich core content management capabilities powered by the use of custom add-on modules. Drupal was also the perfect choice as it was a free, scalable and extendable CMS with extensive security, modularity, stability and a thriving community for support.

  • Scalable: Drupal is one of the few solutions that can scale from small to large while having the depth and breadth of functionality to support thousands of different use cases.
  • Extendable: Drupal employs a modular approach to adding functionality and provides thousands of free, popular modules to choose from.
  • Extensive Support Through the Drupal Community: We are able to rapidly find answers on the Drupal forums, blogs, IRC channels, and also hire Drupal developers who could pick up and revise our project with familiarity and ease.

With a wide variety of contributed modules, we were able to build a system that could meet the current site requirements and easily add new functionalities in the future.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

All these modules meet this project requirement. The Meta tag module, for instance, is an easy way to make any site SEO friendly. Similarly, Webform is a well-known module to develop forms dynamically. We used this module to manage the “Contact Us” form.

We have also developed some custom modules to implement custom requirements. All these contributed modules have provided a good foundation to develop this project. Thanks to the Drupal community for these helpful module contributions.
