Paris’ answer to traffic? A metro in the sky

Thousands of commuters in Paris can use Europe’s longest urban cable car system to avoid the congested traffic below. It's designed to connect multiple neighborhoods to the public transport network.

The new urban cable car in Créteil eases commuting in the congested Paris region. Floating quietly above the city, it cuts travel time, links previously isolated areas and carries over ten thousand passengers daily along its 4.5‑kilometer route. Costing 138 million euros, it is part of a wider effort to better connect the French capital’s suburbs and may inspire similar projects elsewhere.
