📊We surveyed 561 data leaders on the state of enterprise Data and AI projects. Here's what we found out: 👇 📊 79% have deployed AI projects, but only 17% see business value. That's a 62-point execution gap we call the AI Value Chasm. 🚨 97% of organizations have context gaps. Not model problems. Not talent problems. Context problems. 🔒 52% blame security concerns for slow AI progress. But those scaling AI worry LESS about security because they fixed the real issue: context. 👥 84% of AI initiatives bypass data teams, then wonder why they can't solve context problems that data teams specialize in. AI doesn't have a technology problem. It has a context problem. As we head into 2026, it's clear that the organizations that solve for context – not models, not governance, not security – are the ones pulling ahead. The Active Metadata Platform ✨| Visionary in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for D&A Governance
About us
Built by a data team for data teams, Atlan is the active metadata platform for the modern data stack. It stitches together metadata from various sources (Snowflake, dbt, Databricks, Looker, Tableau, Postgres, etc.) to create a unified data discovery, cataloging, lineage, and governance experience across all your data assets, from columns and queries to metrics and dashboards. Atlan facilitates a two-way movement of metadata, bringing context back into the tools and workflows that your data team uses every day — for example, in your BI tool when you wonder what a metric on the dashboard means. A pioneer in the space, Atlan has been named a Visionary in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Data and Analytics Governance Platforms and a Leader and the only Customer Favorite in The Forrester Wave™: Data Governance Solutions, Q3 2025. Atlan was also recognized by Gartner seven times in 2021, including as a Cool Vendor in DataOps and in the inaugural Market Guide for Active Metadata Management. Today, we power data democratization and AI-readiness at companies like General Motors, Cisco, Autodesk, Unilever, Ralph Lauren, FOX, News Corp, Nasdaq, NextGen, Plaid, and HubSpot. 🔎 Prediction for 2026: AI analysts will make the self-service analytics dream a reality. For a decade, self-service has been "almost here." It never failed because of tooling. It failed because business and data never spoke the same language. Now, with LLMs, it’s possible to teach data the language of business. We’ve seen it work. In Atlan's AI Labs working with real customer applications, we saw AI Analyst accuracy jump 5x when they had the right business and semantic context. Our take: While AI Analysts may not replace traditional BI entirely, we might be closer to true self-service analytics than ever before. This is just one of 7 predictions in our 2026 report. The others cover what's coming for data teams, AI stacks, and the role of governance in an AI-native world. 📘 Grab the full report 👇 https://lnkd.in/gvh4afvr

📘New addition to your Christmas reading list: AI Broke the Data Stack - Predictions for 2026. As we head into 2026, one thing is clear: AI is fundamentally reshaping the data stack. And the data teams keeping up with this shift are already transforming themselves. In this report, we outline 7 shifts unfolding across analytics, data teams, and AI stacks, based on insights from 550+ data leaders and real enterprise deployments. We explore questions like: ➡️ What replaces the modern data stack as data & AI become one singular layer of technology? ➡️ Will structured data still matter when AI can analyze every conversation, document, and interaction? ➡️ When AI builds pipelines and writes SQL, what happens to data teams? ➡️ If AI decisions depend on context, where should that context live? ➡️ What new skills and roles matter most in a nondeterministic, AI-driven world? If you’re setting strategy for 2026, this report answers the questions that matter most. 📘 Download the full report: https://lnkd.in/gJ_MGsev

AI broke the data stack. On Feb 5, the leaders who saw this coming are debating what happens next. Two sessions. Two questions that will define the future of the data infrastructure. 🔥 Will AI Analysts Kill 70% of Dashboards? Every platform is launching an “AI Analyst.” Executives want conversational analytics. But enterprises are asking: Is this real—or just another chatbot hype cycle? 🔥 Was Palantir Right About Systems of Context? Semantic layers promised shared meaning for years and never fully delivered. Meanwhile, Palantir built ontologies and context graphs. Now AI initiatives are failing because models don’t understand context. Which foundation delivers? This isn't a panel where everyone agrees. It’s founders and CEOs with wildly different predictions fighting it out live. Save your spot for the #GreatDataDebate2026. 👇 https://lnkd.in/g7UtgUbi

Virgin Media O2 vision for enterprise-wide data democratization spans every aspect of the business, from data infrastructure to talent strategy. Atlan is proud to be on this journey with Mauro Flores and his team, giving users the data they need to innovate faster, make smarter decisions, and deliver best-in-class user and customer experiences. Read about the work the VMO2 team is doing in the latest issue of Interface Magazine👇
𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄. As the year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on our journey at Virgin Media O2 When I joined, the goal was to become a data-driven organisation. My biggest lesson wasn't about technology, it was about 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. In the early days, you have to meet people where they are. You have to understand why the current setup exists before you can solve it. You have to build trust before you can build platforms. But listening is only half the job. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Over the past two years, I’ve learned that the kindest thing a leader can do is remove ambiguity. To create an environment where colleagues feel supported, they need clear guardrails, trusted foundations, and a defined path to value. In 2025, we focused on connection and care. In 2026, we are taking that trust and turning it into 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. I recently shared these reflections with Interface discussing how we balance empathy with the rigour required to deliver better customer experiences and sustainable growth. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this work, and to our partners, like Atlan for supporting the journey, thank you Prukalpa ⚡. As always, there is more to do, but it's also time to be thankful for what we have accomplished together. Well done and thank you to all our Data teams, our colleagues at Virgin Media O2 and our partners. 👇 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/epvvJHa7 #DataLeadership #Culture #CDO #Execution #DataDemocratisation Victor Rivero Dafyd Hopkins Abigail Beaumont (Brockbank) Parav Pandya Yixiang Dong PhD, MBA, ACMA Clement Gavrila Stuart Knapp Diana A. If metadata management isn't in your 2026 roadmap, your AI initiatives are already at risk. Gartner just brought back the Metadata Management Magic Quadrant after five years. That's not a routine refresh—AI fundamentally changed the equation. Three questions every data leader should be asking now: → Do we know what data we have, where it lives, and who owns it? → Can our AI access lineage, semantics, and governance rules in real time? → Are we treating metadata as infrastructure? Or still as documentation? Gartner’s research found that 51% of organizations have already implemented metadata management, and 45% say it's a top priority for the next 2-3 years. The teams getting AI to production aren't waiting. They're building the context layer now.
