Shovels in the ground at the University of Rhode Island as we officially kick off construction on the first of two new residence halls on Flagg Road. This milestone marks the start of an integrated P3 program that will modernize on campus living with apartment style units, expanded study spaces, community wellness rooms, and more than 1,100 new beds across three facilities by 2028. Construction is officially underway on the new $1.7 billion New Wadsworth Center Laboratory, a state-of-the-art public health facility that will strengthen New York’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to emerging public health threats. Gilbane Building is honored to help advance this transformational investment in public health infrastructure and support the next generation of scientific discovery and readiness. Led by Gilbane Building and Turner Construction Company in a joint venture, with design partner HOK, the five-story, 663,000 GSF laboratory will consolidate five sites into one modern campus on Albany’s W. Averell Harriman Campus and is expected to begin full operations by 2030. Celebrating 1 million safe work hours!    We’re proud to announce that the Northwestern Mutual North Building Modernization project team in Milwaukee, WI has achieved 1 million safe work hours, a milestone that reflects the incredible skill, dedication, and commitment of our trade partners and skilled craft. This achievement belongs to every person on site who makes safety their top priority every single day.    Our celebration honored not only this accomplishment but also the long-standing partnership between Northwestern Mutual, Gilbane Building | CG Schmidt, and our trade partners. 2025 was a milestone year for public-private partnerships (P3s) at Gilbane. From topping out the $300M School of Medicine at the University of South Carolina to advancing the modernization of Amtrak’s William H. Gray III 30th Street Station, our construction teams delivered complex projects on accelerated timelines, while managing risk and preserving value for our partners. Supporting more than $2.3B in P3 projects across higher education, health sciences, and social infrastructure, we combined national strength and local expertise to move critical projects from concept to reality.
