2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ was a landmark year for Kraken. We scaled faster, partnered wider, and proved what a smarter, greener system can look like when technology and people work in sync. Here’s what our teams delivered. 🐙 We announced our plans to spin off from Octopus Energy to become an independent global tech leader A huge step that sets us up to accelerate global adoption of the Kraken platform: opening doors for new partners, new innovation opportunities, and new ways to make the energy transition work for people. 🗽 We brought Kraken Impact to New York City A room full of operators, innovators, and grid thinkers coming together to talk about what’s possible. The conversations didn’t stay in the room. They’re shaping our roadmap and the way we support our customers every day. 🚀 We launched new features and products Every improvement makes life easier for teams and customers. We helped utilities manage complex Commercial and Industrial (C&I) accounts, empowered Distribution System Operators (DSO’s) to deliver the grid of the future with Kraken Distribution, and helped agents better serve customers with Agent Assist. We also gave utilities more autonomy and control with tools like Flow. 🔋 We now run the world’s largest residential virtual power plant (VPP) at 2.5GW This milestone matters. Real households and batteries are helping balance real grids. We now also support vehicle to grid (V2G) so as more flexible devices come online, we’re proving that distributed energy can scale and stay dependable ⚙️ We scaled grid scale flexibility to 4 GW across Europe and went live in Italy. In the UK, we onboarded some of the largest and most complex assets on the system, including 200 MW at Blackhillock and 300 MW at Kilmarnock. 🤝 Major utilities like National Grid and Norlys selected Kraken They will play major roles in the next chapter of the energy system. We’re proud to support them with technology that makes customer service, and operations simpler. 🇬🇧 We’re powering market-wide half hourly settlement (MHHS) in the UK for Octopus Energy and E.ON Next One of the biggest market changes in a generation went live. Kraken teams delivered the tech, the tooling, and the operational support to make it real. Meaning Octopus Energy and E.ON Next were the first to be certified and start migrating customers. This is what future-proof infrastructure looks like. 2026 is about deeper flexibility, faster innovation, and helping every partner unlock the full power of their assets and their data. Thank you to our customers, our teams, and the people cheering us on from the sidelines. Onward. #EnergyTech #Flexibility #UtilityInnovation #VPP #Energy

End of 2025: a look back, and ahead, at Kraken 👇 TL;DR The energy transition is accelerating, but 2030 success relies on more than just renewables. 💰 Cleantech investment is booming. Ten years ago, investment in clean energy surpassed fossil fuels. This year, it was double. 💨 Solar is dominating, wind needs to ramp up. Solar deployments in 2025 are x5 wind. But, wind produces ~x2 the output of solar, widening the gap to 2030. 👀Renewables are cheap, but wasting them isn't. 2025 UK curtailment costs will be 40% higher than 2024. We are investing~$1 tn / yr into renewable projects, but only $65 bn into grid-scale batteries. The need for flex is surging. 🔋Fortunately, the cost of batteries has fallen 30% in the last year and 70% in the last three years - faster than any other technology. 📈Installed capacity is doubling year-on-year. In the last ten days at Kraken, we onboarded over 500 MW. The urgent and growing need for batteries is driven by resiliency concerns, curtailment and volatility. So, what needs to come next? 1️⃣ Policy needs to reward what we want and not what we don't. 2️⃣ System resilience relies on batteries. After blackouts, both Australia and the UK built batteries to stabilise the grid and cut balancing costs. 3️⃣ Decentralisation lowers costs, reduces reliance on imports and cyber risk. 4️⃣ Accelerate electrification, it unlocks cheap flex without additional capex. 5️⃣ Behavior matters. A flexible grid needs new habits, not just new tech, and this applies to system operators who dispatch flexibility and consumers empowered to participate in flex even when they don’t own low carbon technology. #energytransition #consumers #flexibility

Nobody wants coal for Christmas… and this year, we’re delivering something far better 🎄⚡ Kraken now manages more than 5.7GW of dispatchable clean power, which means we’ve officially overtaken the capacity of Europe’s largest fossil-fuel plant. To make it festive, 5.7GW of clean power could light around 1 billion Christmas trees at the same time. From the Rockefeller Center tree in New York City to the Trafalgar Square tree in London, imagine the world’s most iconic Christmas lights all shining together on clean energy 🎁 And this milestone means something bigger for the energy transition: • Clean power is becoming more reliable than old-school coal. • Millions of devices are working together like elves in the workshop. • We use the grid we already have more efficiently, instead of pouring billions into copper and concrete. • Households get cheaper, greener energy right when they need it. This is what a modern, software-driven energy system looks like: abundant, flexible, and ready for a cleaner future. It is the first Christmas where virtual power plants outshine a mega coal plant and we are only getting started 💚 #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #VirtualPowerPlant #SmartGrid #TechForGood

Flexibility just got real. We're already delivering flexibility at massive scale, saving both customers and utilities money - from Electric Vehicles (EVs) to smart thermostats, globally. Kraken Flexibility isn't just theory; we're unlocking this potential right now: - We're enabling the UK’s first nationwide vehicle-to-grid (V2G) programme. This programme is saving EV owners up to £620 compared to standard energy tariffs. - We’ve expanded our asset capabilities to include smart thermostat optimization. And, we’re supporting a pilot with Southern California Edison to collectively optimize multiple device types, including EVs, batteries, and smart thermostats. - We're allowing sub-meter billing by the device. This clearly shows the real financial value of adopting low-carbon technology. Want to learn more about how we're building resilience through decentralisation? Join us for our webinar on 4th December at 7:30pm GMT. https://lnkd.in/gyZ3yajU
