There’s a lot to appreciate about a bike ride: the steady rhythm of your feet on the pedals. The rush of summer air against your face. Flowers in bloom, rolling hills, and tree limbs arching overhead.   But for a few Scouts on our Logistics team, a bike ride can offer something more than the ride itself. It can be an opportunity to step up for others.   This month, three members of the Scout Motors Logistics Team took on the Ride to Remember— a 257-mile cycling journey across South Carolina that supports Alzheimer’s research.   John Gulyas, Drew Anderson, and Jamie Rogers proudly represented Scout Motors, raising more than $4,000 for the cause and contributing to the event’s overall total of more than $1.25 million raised.   In the several weeks leading up to the ride, the team trained together with a shared commitment to a meaningful goal. Their dedication reflected the Scout Way values of Step Up, as they took action for a cause bigger than themselves, and Figure It Out, as they pushed through challenges with perseverance, adaptability, and determination.   Over the course of three days, the team rode alongside more than 450 cyclists from across the Southeast, pushing through flat tires, steep climbs, and intense summer heat. Through every obstacle, they remained focused on their mission and the families impacted by Alzheimer's disease.   The ride holds special meaning for each team member. Jamie rides in honor of her grandmother, who battled Alzheimer's. John was inspired by the experience of watching his wife's grandmother live with the disease and by the challenge of endurance cycling. Drew, an avid cyclist, joined the effort to support Alzheimer's research after seeing its impact on a member of his extended family.   The Ride to Remember returns each July, and the Scout Cycling Team hopes to grow participation in the years ahead. For Scouts looking to challenge themselves, connect with colleagues, and support an important cause, there’s always room for more riders on the team.

Some careers follow a straight road. Others take a few meaningful turns before arriving exactly where they’re meant to be.   For Matt Eiden, joining Scout Motors brought together his construction, real estate, and procurement experience with a lifelong passion for cars. Today, Matt helps source construction materials for our Blythewood Production Center, supporting the facility that will build our future Scout® vehicles. It’s fast-moving, complex work that calls for balance, adaptability, and teamwork.   From childhood memories of cars in the driveway to reserving a Scout Traveler SUV the day it was revealed, Matt’s journey has been years in the making. Stronger communities aren’t built by a single moment, they’re built through consistent action.   This week, Scout Motors interns rolled up their sleeves at The Cooperative Ministry's Clothing & Furniture Bank in Columbia, SC, to help prepare donated furniture and mattresses for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.   By helping move inventory and prepare donations, these volunteers stepped up to serve neighbors in need. The best career advice rarely comes from a classroom. Our interns recently had the opportunity to sit down with members of our Production Center leadership team to ask questions, hear honest stories about the careers behind the titles, and gain perspective from those who have had the same thoughts early in their own careers. Opportunities, mentorship, and meaningful relationships are some of the best investments we can make in future talent. When experienced leaders take the time to share what they've learned, they're helping prepare the people who will carry our company and our communities forward.
