How can you manage expectations when using Agile Methodologies?
They key word here is "trust". Once a team gains the trust of their stakeholder through excellent understanding and communication followed by solid incremental software delivery, a lot of "agile" ceremony can be set aside. The prime example of what can be set aside is estimation. Estimates are a trust-building tool, and once that trust is established, they can often be removed. If tasks can be kept relatively uniform and small, teams move faster by skipping estimation and simply working on the highest priority work.

How can you manage expectations when using Agile Methodologies?
Our fundamental principle of communication: "The client should never have to ask for an update on a task. The status should already be obvious." We work in a remote-first environment, which requires a specific style of communication among project collaborators. When there is a significant spread of timezones, asynchronous updates are critical to keeping the entire team organized and working together efficiently. We also ensure all of our tooling integrates seamlessly into our clients' communication channels so that they stay up-to-date in realtime as we make progress on our tasks.

How can you manage expectations when using Agile Methodologies?
The goals of a project are more consistent over time than the scope. There are many ways to accomplish a goal and staying focused on achieving those goals is the best place for a project leader to focus. Creating an attachment to a specific scope can create unnecessary tension and confusion. In my experience, agility means being open to changing and redefining scope in order to achieve project goals.
