At a Special Meeting tonight Dublin City Council agreed a new pathway to rezone additional land for up to 25,000 new housing units in the city by 2032. The Council has tonight also agreed to launch a bold urban rejuvenation pilot to tackle long-standing dereliction and vacancy to bring new life to the city-centre.

Berkeley Group Plc’s latest development of riverside apartments in Reading has been officially launched. Reading Riverworks on the site of the former SSE plc offices, on the banks of the River Thames will include a tree-lined pedestrian and cycle access, which will eventually form part of a long-planned direct route between Reading Station underpass and Christchurch Bridge. One of Brisbane’s last remaining riverfront industrial sites is set to be transformed into a thriving mixed-use precinct, with thousands of new homes. The Queensland Government Government will partner with Brisbane City Council to transform the 7.1-hectare Visy industrial site in South Brisbane with hopes of entertainment spaces, riverfront promenades, event lawns and more than 4000 extra homes. Premier David Crisafulli MP said, after deciding earlier this year to not proceed with plans to use the site as the broadcast centre for the Brisbane 2032  Games, a market process to find a developer for the site had been started. “Located 1.3 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD between South Bank and West End, the site is one of the few significant riverfront precincts still available for redevelopment in Brisbane,” Premier Crisafulli said. He said the market launch was underpinned by a renewed Kurilpa temporary local planning instrument approved by the Deputy Premier to streamline planning approvals and enable unlimited building heights up to the flight path cap of 274m. “We’re unlocking one of the last golden stretches of riverfront to create a world-class legacy precinct that all Queenslanders can be proud of,” Premier Crisafulli said. “This is a once-in-a-generation moment to reshape Brisbane’s inner city and deliver lasting benefits.” Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said this was an incredible opportunity to deliver more new homes for Queenslanders and riverfront parkland in an area already serviced by public transport. “More than 5000 new homes are planned in South Brisbane’s Kurilpa Precinct already and this builds on our plan to transform this area into one of Brisbane’s most liveable communities,” Lord Mayor Schrinner said. 🏆 Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Paula Basnett has praised local developers after two major projects in Wirral won awards at Insider's Liverpool City Region Property Awards 2025. Millers Quay won the Residential Development of the Year while the Future Ambition Award was won by the Hind Street Urban Village soon to be built adjacent to Birkenhead town centre. Cllr Basnett said: "These are prestigious awards which recognise innovative and exciting developments taking place in Wirral. The judges said Millers Quay was 'a bold and characterful project' and most importantly saw that it meets the local community's needs while also helping to bring the waterfront site to life. "Hind Street is going to be one of the most significant developments in Birkenhead for generations. "Both these developments and others in the pipeline show Wirral is able to work with private sector partners to deliver the high quality developments which are already and will in the future make a real and positive difference to our borough and its residents." Hind Street and Millers Quay are among 10 projects in Wirral which are also shortlisted in the YM Liverpool Property & Business Awards which is due to take place in November.
