Deutsche Welle’s Post

'Notes from Caracas' out now 🎬 Directed by award‑winning filmmaker Anabel Rodríguez Ríos, the new DW documentary offers a first‑person account of life in Venezuela during a period marked by the recent U.S. military operation in Caracas, including strikes in the city and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro in early January 2026. As Rodríguez Ríos moves through Caracas, she meets human rights activists, relatives of political prisoners and survivors of torture — voices reflecting the deep polarization and exhaustion within Venezuelan society.    The Spanish‑language version launched on February 2 on DW Documental, with English, Arabic, Hindi and Indonesian versions to follow. As of February 3, the film is also available on DW's linear TV channels.   💬 Check the comments for links to DW's Documentary YouTube channels.

A person on a motorcycle rides past on the left, and a metal barrier and underpass appear in the background. Text on the image reads: “‘Notes from Caracas’: New DW Documentary out now.”

Thanks for this post, and mostly, for the opportunity to bring up this story in the middle of so much happening in our beloved Venezuela. I must say, your platform gave me and my 15-year-old son a communicational common ground! Finally, he vibrates with what his parents do, as he admires DW very much and is quite proud of seeing this story there.
