HOW DO YOU BUILD 2 STARTUPS WITH YOUR HUSBAND? 🤯 That's the question I get most often. It’s a fair one. Building a company is hard enough. Building two, with your spouse — while raising a toddler — sounds like chaos. (And yes, it is.) But the truth is, he’s my best friend in every part of life. Our decision-making is quick, our trust runs deep, and that synergy has carried into everything we’ve built together. From raising capital to managing teams, we’ve faced every challenge side by side — and that’s made all the difference. When we started our first fintech company, I wasn’t fully ready for leadership. I struggled to earn respect, separate work from home, and carry the emotional weight of being CEO. Executive coaching changed everything — part business therapy, part couples therapy. It helped us communicate better, lead with empathy, and set boundaries that strengthened both our marriage and our company. Nine years later, I wouldn’t build a company without him. We’re a two-pack. Startups test every limit, but when you have someone who knows your blind spots and still believes in your vision, you grow in ways you never expected. 5 Things I’ve Learned Building Startups With My Husband (and a Toddler) ❤️ 1. Choose your co-founder wisely. Trust, respect, and humor are non-negotiable. If you can survive sleepless nights with a newborn together, you can survive anything a startup throws at you. 💬 2. Communicate like it’s your job. Conflict is inevitable — how you handle it determines your success. Executive coaching helped us talk honestly as partners and as leaders. 🎯 3. Separate roles, not goals. Clear ownership avoids confusion — in theory. I lead the team at work and at home: I pack lunches, build train tracks, research schools, schedule playdates, plan birthday parties and somehow remember all my son’s classmates’ names. So I guess in this case, I lead… the leadership efforts. What can I say — invest in mom founders, we’re built differently. 😉 💪 4. Build emotional resilience. Startups will push you to the edge. Facing the chaos together makes you stronger in every sense. 🌪️ 5. Embrace uncertainty. As Sahil Bloom says, “Tolerance for uncertainty is the single most valuable human trait.” Whether it’s parenting or startups, it’s always worth it. Would I recommend building companies with your spouse? It’s definitely not for everyone. But if you find the right partner — in life and in business — it just might be the wildest, most rewarding journey you’ll ever take.
