Today’s class introduced me to Power Query and data transformation in Power BI 📊✨ I learned how raw data can be cleaned and transformed into a structured format before analysis. It’s interesting to see that a large part of data analysis involves preparing and cleaning data to ensure accuracy. This has given me a deeper understanding of the data analysis process, and I’m excited to keep building on this foundation. #DataAnalytics #PowerBI #DataCleaning #LearningInPublic #DextraqAcademy

Most people think Power BI is just about charts… But in reality, the real power is in DATA MODELING. I recently worked on a project where: Data was coming from multiple sources Reports were slow and inconsistent After redesigning the data model: Report performance improved KPIs became more reliable Decision-making became faster Lesson: If your data model is weak, your insights will be wrong. Now I focus more on building strong data models before jumping into visuals. #PowerBI #DataAnalytics #BusinessIntelligence #SQL #DataModeling

Building a good data model is absolutely crucial and critical for data analytics. In my view, it’s the most important thing you can do in Power BI. It is all about having a solid foundation. Models contain • Fact tables & • Dimension tables A well-designed model should: • Use a star schema with one-to-many (1:*) relationships • Contain relationships with one-way filters • Include tables that each serve a clear purpose • Only include the data needed for analysis (no redundant or unnecessary fields) When your model is structured properly, analysis becomes more reliable. If you get your data model right, everything becomes easier — DAX, visuals, and insights. If you ignore it, you will keep fixing problems that should not exist. #PowerBI #DataModeling #DAX Adewale Yusuf

“Data Analysts just build dashboards…” That’s the biggest myth. Real work looks like this :- 🔹 Understanding the problem 🔹 Cleaning messy data 🔹 Writing SQL 🔹 Finding insights 🔹 Communicating clearly 🔹 THEN building dashboards Truth is 80% of the work happens before visualization. #DataAnalytics #DataAnalyst #SQL #PowerBI #BusinessIntelligence #DataScience #Analytics #LearningJourney #CareerGrowth #DataVisualization #DAX #Dashboards

Day 25/180 Data Modeling in Power BI I have come to realize that strong dashboards start with strong data models. In Power BI, relationships help connect tables so filters can flow properly, and Microsoft recommends using star schema design with fact and dimension tables. My key takeaway A great report is only as good as the model behind it. #AdaoraBecomesABusinessAnalyst #180DaysOfConsistency #PowerBI #DataModeling #BusinessAnalysis

One of the more interesting aspects of data analytics I’ve explored is working with date and time-based data. Through ALX, I’ve learned how important time is in analysis — whether it’s: Tracking trends over time Comparing performance across periods Extracting meaningful insights from time-stamped data Handling dates correctly is critical because even small errors can completely change the outcome of an analysis. This has strengthened my attention to detail and improved how I approach time-based datasets in Power BI and SQL. #DataAnalytics #PowerBI #SQL #DataInsights #TimeSeries
