The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, successfully inaugurated the One-Day Hands-On Workshop on “Agentic AI and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)” today at the Senate Hall, VTU Campus. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shanmukhappa A Angadi, Chairperson, Department of CSE, VTU, who set the context for the workshop by highlighting the growing relevance of advanced AI paradigms in today’s technological landscape. The workshop was formally inaugurated by the dignitaries through a symbolic plant watering ceremony, signifying growth, innovation, and sustainability. Dr. Rohit B. Kaliwal, Workshop Coordinator, provided an overview of the workshop, outlining its objectives and emphasizing the importance of transitioning from traditional AI systems to Agentic AI and the broader vision of Artificial General Intelligence. The inaugural function was graced by Mr. Pranay Mahendrakar, Managing Director, Sony Tech Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, who, as the Chief Guest, delivered an insightful address encouraging students to explore emerging opportunities in intelligent systems and future technologies. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Vidyashankar S., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, VTU, who reiterated the university’s commitment to fostering innovation, research, and skill development in cutting-edge domains such as Artificial Intelligence and autonomous systems. The occasion was also graced by the presence of the Registrar and Registrar (Evaluation), VTU, whose presence added significance to the event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Mugdha Jagirdar, Research Scholar, VTU, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, and participants. The session ended with a group photograph, marking the beginning of an engaging and insightful workshop for the students.
