massive performance drop as you scroll in the art portal. using latest Librewolf release (119.0-7) based on Firefox 119. tested in ungoogled-chromium and it was smooth.

Honestly really sad i couldn't finish my Spooktacular piece in time because of my lack of talent but hey, at least i can't wait to see who wins, y'all did amazing art, movies, games and collabs this year, if only i had the chance to have done something

Also thanks for the thumbnail and art portal updates Tom! I really appreciate both of them, they are very useful and are important quality of life improvements to the site, very big thanks to both you and the team for working so hard on them, can't wait to see what other updates you guys got in mind!

I can’t believe I forgot to thank you guys for updating the thumbnail feature! It actually works on Safari! So thanks!

no more crispy thumbs!

one art portal improvement i'd like to see in the future is setting a base size for multi-image works. it's a little annoying thumbing through multiple submissions in a collab that dont share the same aspect ratio and so the UI bobs around willy nilly. Maybe add a checkbox if not everybody is into uniformity?

The multi-art stuff is just great, thumbnails too. Nice and smooth like a bald head

Also, if I may dare suggest a feature. What if multi-image submissions worked kinda like Pixiv?

But instead of vertical scrolling, you just flip between them with buttons

on either side or the arrow keys if focused, that one's a maybe

Come to think of it, weird how only the first image gets filename formatted.

What'd I mean? Something like this numberstring_artistname_title

Maybe that's been fixed by now, but it's worth noting for those who like saving art locally

And boy, I might be late. But my reaction to Hominid HD is basically [Expletive-filled, yet praise-laden rant]

Is it possible to restore the 'select your frame' option when uploading animated art? NG is the only place I know that had that feature and it was real handy. If it can't, it's a shame, but I get it.

It was a neat feature but it choked on larger images, which is why we opted to let people upload thumbnails instead of relying on that.

We currently let the artist choose between a vertical stack or previous / next buttons for the images.

Here's an example of previous / next:

Is that what you were picturing as an alternative to the vertical stack?

We also use the < and > keys on the keyboard, although we should switch to using arrow keys. Arrow keys are currently reserved for the large image viewer where you can pan the image around but I think we should change that to ASDW to free up the arrow keys for their more familiar use of toggling images.

Yeah I don't know if I had just started noticing it or if it was a recent development, but within the last month or so, I've noticed the thumbnails have been especially crusty. Glad that's fixed.

I'd absolutely prefer if you used the arrow keys for swapping images.
