Nah, not really. I want to go back to 2012 because my grandparents were alive, Game Grumps was just starting, and so I can invest in Bitcoin 🤔

I've seen mixed results. There's more to it than just that if you care about doing that effect convincingly.

The cool thing now is it will be more common for updates that make a few more games work, vs everything that went into getting to this point.
That's fantastic! Y'all are doing good work :)

Frist, make a storyboard of your animation
Then, use that storyboard as a base for your frames
After that, use a good drawing program with layers (paint tool sai, krita, medibang) and draw each frame on layers (note: each time you finish a frame, put transparençy on the previous layer for onion skin effect) also draw it with the pencil brush, add drop shadow, erase some spots on the outlines so it looks like cel animation
Final step: open up flash, or any other software, draw a square with a gray color, set the transparency to 15, and put your frames on these squares, that way, its gonna look like a animation cel, put the background, audio, and othet stuff and done
Props for responding to a seven-year-old forum post. I'm still super interested in this topic! Thank you for responding. I actually found some neat stuff recently on the topic, including underlighting and replication techniques.
@MrMiguelArt on Twitter makes astoundingly accurate looking recreations of cel anime. I asked him if he could go into detail how he makes them, but he didn't respond.
If you go onto their Patreon, Knights of the Light Table goes into detail about how they made their Starlight Brigade animated music video and even offer Toon Boom brushes!
I'm working on making a tutorial on how to make this effect, but I need money to buy things, mainly tools, and I have no money right now lol
I was messing around with surround sound in Resolve and wanted to see if uploading the video to Newgrounds would automatically downmix 5.1 to 2.0.
In Resolve, I made 7 tracks:

I uploaded the video to Newgrounds and then downloaded the video using the good ole "Inspect" tool. I then imported the video back into Resolve with a 5.1 timeline. According to Resolve, Newgrounds does preserve all surround sound tracks! That's not what I was expecting at all. YouTube doesn't even support surround sound for normal videos. Very cool, NG B)

I don't have an AV receiver to actually test it. I was wondering if anyone can confirm this on their end or get confirmation from Newgrounds staff.

Jeez I’m not trying to kill myself I just want to take a break from life for a little bit
You aren't going to catch a break from the stresses of your life by getting COVID. Getting COVID is only going to bring ADDITIONAL stress. It's a potentially debilitating disease.
I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't redundant or caused problems. I did some testing and found out that for both NG Player and Ruffle, the first time you load a big SWF file there are a few seconds of blank screen before the animation starts playing. Putting in a preloader solved this issue. It seems that once it loads the first time, it doesn't need to re-load everything the second time and it starts immediately.
I'm working on a rather hefty Flash file that I intend to upload to Newgrounds. It's not nearly complete and it is already ~40 MB due to using uncompressed audio and uncompressed bitmap images. Given that this isn't the early 2000s anymore and people generally have fast internet, I'm wondering if it's worth it to include a preloader at all. I want to include one of the good ole Newgrounds preloaders to help playback and because it looks cool and I like NG.
Since all SWF files run on either the Newgrounds Player or Ruffle these days instead of natively on the website, I'm wondering if that would affect the practicality of a preloader. This particular SWF uses AS3 and Ruffle can only do AS2. Basically, is it worth it to include one in 2022?
Hello. My name is Alex and I work for a YouTuber named MatterBoar. He is searching for a video editor able to match his style and edit at least one movie/show reaction video per week. You can find examples of the kind of thing you'd be editing on his channel.
The current rate is $10/minute of final product. Videos typically range from 10 to 18 minutes in duration. The footage you'd be working with may range anywhere from 90 minutes to 120 minutes or more. If you are interested, please notify me with a comment below and then contact MatterBoar on Discord (MatterBoar#7745) or myself on Discord (adesyndicate#2010) and include examples of past video editing work.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Position is filled!
I am working on a cover of I Got 5 On It by Luniz. This is a commission from the YouTuber MatterBoar. The deadline is 10/30 as the song will be released on 10/31. This is paid work. I will update this post once I get a number from the client on how much he's offering.
If you are interested, please provide examples of past rap work. If you get accepted, provide the audio file in an uncompressed FLAC or WAV (48kHz, 24-bit depth preferred) without post-processing effects. The sooner this can be done before 10/30 the better.
Due to time limitations, the current plan is that we'll only do the first verses and first chorus. If there is extra time, we might do the whole song. The accompaniment is nearly finished currently.
Contact me on Newgrounds or on Discord (adesyndicate#2010) if you are interested.
Calling all guitarists!
I'm working on a commission that needs an electric guitar part. This is paid work.
Provide examples of past work and how you would like to be paid. This project is an abridged cover of Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult. It is commissioned by MatterBoar and will be used on his YouTube channel.
The details are as follows for the time being:
- Tempo: 100–110 BPM
- Key signature: F minor
- Genre: Rock / Synthrock
- Duration: ~0:30–1:30
- Deadline: September 24th
@torra8188138 I may be the person you're thinking of! My name is Alex and I'm a game composer and cartoonist/animator. I had my Facebook account home set to Flagstaff, Arizona for goofs for a long time even though I've never actually lived there; I live in York, Pennsylvania. I do not immediately recognize a "Victoria from London", though keep in mind I am incredibly forgetful.
If I don't get accepted, I'd be more than happy to help others with their submissions. I work cheap, but do my best to put out good content! If I do get accepted, I will still likely be able to work on music for others' submissions.
Please contact me either through Newgrounds DM, Twitter, or email ([email protected]).
This is wonderful news! I've been waiting for the day the rest of the uploaders get updated. They look great!
Our desktop Flash player is in really good shape and we’re confident you will be able to keep playing new and old Flash content, earning medals and logging high scores long after Flash is removed from browsers. We’re exploring some other ideas at the moment but the base system all works, which is a good feeling.
I'm glad to hear that the Flash player is going well! Thank you so much for keeping the SWF format alive <3
Considering the President made it so that the public can't know how many innocent civilians and noncombatants are killed in war, I think he's pretty fuckin' awful. That was the tipping point for me.

The only person who i can really think of that gets a regular pass on it is JackdCurleo, the main issue is that you're basically taking a (kind of bad) photo of an uncolored ink or pencil drawing, even a good drawing under those circumstances is going to look unprofessional and sketchy. You need to get a scanner and color your drawings or make them extremely refined and present them better.
I personally wouldnt want to see any of these in the portal, not because the drawings themselves are bad (they're not) but because of how unprofessional and sloppy they're presented.
Resize. Crop. Dont leave masses unfinished/heaps of negative space for no reason, etc.
Thank you for the compliments! The reason I photograph the pages instead of scan them is because the sketchbook doesn't lay perfectly flat on the scanner bed and so parts of the page become blurred. I'll invest in a large-bed scanner eventually!
When you're about to upload a piece of art to the Art Portal, there is a checkbox with the instructions that read "We prefer that works in progress, sketches and doodles are kept out of the Art Portal." Understandable. But I have a question about whether some of my art can be considered sketches or not because I'd like to put them in the Art Portal without breaking the rules.
Keep in mind some of these are A-rated.
1. E-rated cartoon: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/ade-syndicate/elora
2. E-rated simple cartoon: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/ade-syndicate/ugh
3. E-rated comic: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/ade-syndicate/dating-advice-comic
4. M-rated animation: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/ade-syndicate/funny-fart
5. A-rated hentai: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/ade-syndicate/princess-rosalina-is-a-babe
6. A-rated hentai: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/ade-syndicate/yuffie-riding-cloud
Some of these were quickly made and are "sketch-y", but some of these are inked and shaded with pencil. However, those inked pieces could still be considered sketches because they're not fully rendered.
Is there a limit to the age rating we should go for? Like no M- or A-rated material for the Jam?
Hello! My name is Alexander Emenheiser, and I'm looking to start composing for video games. After a four-year break from composing for video games, I decided to get my hands dirty again and get crackin' on that piano keyboard!
I've been playing the piano and writing songs for a decade. I have four years in electronic music composition and two in vocals, as well. I can create music in a variety of genres, including orchestral, chiptune, rock, jazz, and so on. You can hear my music in the Audio Portal!

There is a homebrew and hacking scene for both the Wii and the Wii U, making both games and apps. I've yet to find any homebrew or licensed indie games I'd call decent, though I can't say I've played many.

Anyways, my question for the animation subforum is: Why do most animators prefer to animate on twos in 24 fps instead of animating on ones in 12 fps. I'm doing a practice animation tried both with no visible difference. Very curious to why choose 24 fps.
I always use 24fps, usually animating on twos, because it allows for more flexibility with swifter moments. For example, if I want a single frame that lasts 1/24 of a second, I couldn't do that at 12fps where a single frame is 1/12 of a second. These shorter frames are perfect for quickly going off-model for exaggeration's sake like for smears.

YES, I agree. :)
Genesis - They started out as a refreshingly unique progressive rock band from England. Their music ranges from silly to deep, often times in the same song. The early era of Genesis created songs like Firth of Fifth and Dance with the Moonlit Knight In the 80s, they turned to pop rock with songs like Land of Confusion and I Can't Dance.
Yes - Yes is a British, classic prog rock band whose music is more forest-y, faerie/spiritual- and fantasy-inspired. Often times, the lyrics are completely nonsense and yet they sound coherent enough to appear New Age before New Age become a cash grab scheme. ANYWHO, they made Roundaboutand Owner of a Lonely Heart.
Rush - By a long mile, the best band ever forever and always. It is a three-piece rock band from Canada who will rock your socks off with the tastiest, happy-go-luckiest, most impressive jams you'll hear in a lifetime. Their songs include Tom Sawyer, The Trees, and Limelight.
What? I won something? :O YAY.
I'll have to watch the other winners' stuff then BD
Hi! I'm Alex. I am a background/incidental music composer and 2D animator for video games and movies.
MUSIC
=============
I am more than capable of making music for the NES/Famicom, SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive, SNES, Game Boy (Color), and more adhering to the technical limitations of each console. I can also make music that expands beyond the limitations of each console, making the music "fakebit". The music I make can be used in homebrew and ROM hacks.
I have been a pianist and composing music for more than nine years. My music has appeared in Retro Racer by Bukket Games, The Tale of the Tarot Illuminati by Erik Dunne, the upcoming Eddsworld: the Movie by Marc Lovallo, and to various other animated videos. You can hear examples of my music on the Newgrounds audio portal and on SoundCloud.
EXAMPLES
Nashergania feat. Jänson Harris, a cover of "Vampire Hunter from Castlevania featuring a gnarly synth solo
In the Air Tonight, an instrumental cover of Phil Collin's hit song
Recovery, an original instrumental piece
