Hi there,

I can't remember if I posted my entry or not as yet, so here it is (again?) :P

Thanks!

Response to: NGUAC 2020 Knock-out Round Posted August 15th, 2020 in Audio

Hi!

Heres my entry.

I started it on Thursday, after work.

It's taken me about ten hours, from start to finish.

NO third party samples were used.

Any samples used were taken from my custom library.

Anyway, please enjoy!

Response to: Audio Advertisements! Posted March 6th, 2020 in Audio

Hi people!

I would very much appreciate it you would have a listen to my tunes (specifically the recently uploaded ones), and possibly leave a comment!

I primarily produce drum and bass, but have been making a bit of synthwave recently.

Any constructive feedback would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Heya guys,

If there are any Neurofunk drum and bass fans out there, I strongly suggest you check out my new track! very Noisia/Black Sun Empire influenced.

Its full 320kbit, so get downloading and put it on those iPods of yours! :)
Please leave me some love. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. If anyone wants any tips/hints on my production techniques, hit me up via a PM.

Peace,
Enjoy,

Response to: Phase shifting to snatch acapellas. Posted September 3rd, 2010 in Audio

At 9/3/10 04:16 AM, Rucklo wrote: actually, phase reversing/inverting/shifting pretty much mean the same thing. If I could take back what I said I'd go for inverting, as +1 becomes -1, +0.5 becomes -0.5 and so on - the whole waveform is inverted.

on the other hand, inverted mathematically mean that 5 = 1/5, A = 1/A so I guess inverting isn't a mathemetacially correct word...

either way, if you use phase reverse/invert/shift probably doesn't matter, people will know what it's about anyway... :o)

Phase inversion is exactly what it says. Mathematically, you were referring to reciprocals, to which phase inversion does not refer.

A more accurate description would be phase cancellation, since it uses opposite waveforms, overlayed that cause them to cancel each other out. :P

I've been using this technique for many years. :-D

At 9/3/10 06:19 AM, Calamaistr wrote: i already knew this but my question is.. why would you use it....

You would use this, for example, if you wanted to make a remix of a track. and needed an A capella.

Any producer knows, that should you have the acapella to a track, making a remix allows you almost infinite freedom. If you have a vocal, thats polluted by the rest of the track, no amount of filtering, eqing etc can completely isolate a vocal. and even if it does, it usually introduces artifacts of some sort, and sounds tinny or muffled, or hollow.

even phase inversion doesnt work perfectly, but it is a lot more effective than using filters, and the end result is much more usable.

Hope this clears your query up

Response to: soundgoodizier Posted September 3rd, 2010 in Audio

I think someone else mentioned it somewhere, but Soundgoodizer/YouWAShock, is just Imageline Maximus with four presets and an "amount" knob (which is NOT necessarily a wet/dry knob)

The large knob actually changes several values simultaneously. Threshhold, and ratio being the two that make the most difference.

And to whomever else that objected to it being used on the master...That is what it was designed for. but you can use it any way you see fit!

My recommendation is to use Maximus it its entirety, and learn the functions of it. As it is a very capable multiband compressor, and it thrashes the pants off soundgoodizer/youwashock.

I'm fairly adept at production (check out my NG submissions to see if you think i'm qualified enough!), and am happy to help with any technical aspects regarding compression / eq and making a great mixdown/mastering

Remember, making a good mixdown is the most important part. If the mixdown is great, then mastering it is easy!!

:)

Hey all,

I've posted a new track.
Its a Drum and Bass track, in the same sort of flavour as Shockone, or Matrix and Futurebound. I'm actually looking for a decent vocal to put in it too

If anyone can help out, drop me a PM

Response to: Free music software for Windows XP? Posted August 28th, 2010 in Audio

Hey there,

If you want a good free sequencer program, get the english "computer music" magazine. They include bucketloads of free VST plugins as well.

Cmusic (i think) sequencer is a full featured midi sequencer that supports audio tracks, VST plugins, etc

I can't link to anywhere to get it because I dont think you can legally download it. But if you buy the magazine, they include a DVD on the cover that has HEAPS of stuff to get you started, including that sequencer.

I'm personally an Ableton Live user.

Check my profile to hear music that I've made using Live 8
Hope I've been helpful!

Response to: Scored NI Komplete for 399! Posted August 9th, 2009 in Audio

Oh yeah..i forgot about multiple fu**ing powerboards, and cables EVERYWHERE!!! studio's look so cluttered with cables everywhere...they look impressive with lots of expensive equipment everywhere. thats where the fun stops though.

Response to: Scored NI Komplete for 399! Posted August 9th, 2009 in Audio

Komplete's not bad. I assume you're talking about version 5? at least they included Massive

To the hardware junkies out there, you're all living in the past...software is the way of the future. Midi is a pain in the ass, ever had to deal with dropped notes?? I've got several thousand dollars worth of hardware, all of which gathers dust these days.

There are certain things that i'll still turn to, but normally I sample them.

My Devilfish modded Tb303 is my pride and joy (as far as hardware goes), along with a pair of quasimidi sirius's. I've got an alesis andromeda that I dont really use any more, a korg ms2000 that also gathers dust. and numerous other toys (Roland jp8080, Roland vp-9000 Varipharase processor..to name a couple)

Hell, Ableton does everything the variphrase could do, and more...and it doesnt crash as much :-S

so I'm a reformed hardware junkie. Software is an absolute pleasure to work with most of the time, and total recall is a marvellous thing.

Just my 2 cents

Response to: Free-will, does it exist? Posted July 8th, 2009 in General

This question always amuses me. How can a hypothesis for this ever be tested? Free Will or "The illusion of free will"? It doesnt really matter either way, since no-one really has a hold on what is going to happen, or what MAY happen (depending entirely on your beliefs on this particular subject).

I mean, I decide that I'm going to post a reply to this. I believe I made the decision to do so, and that the choice to either reply, or not to reply was entirely in my hands.....prove me wrong!! :) but at the same time, the argument stands, that maybe at this exact point in time, all of the events leading up to my posting on this bbs were predetermined, and that all subsequent interactions are also going to happen exactly as "its planned out"...I mean, maybe It was my destiny!?

HG Wells "the time machine" has all of this as a theme. So people have been pondering this question for quite some time!

So, to conclude, I don't lean either way, as no empirical evidence exists to prove one or the other. To the average person, it really makes no difference as we have no direct control over the flow of time or what direction that time flows.

I just go with the flow...seems to work out pretty well for me at least!

Peace!

PS Check my tunes!!! :):)

Response to: Audio Software Posted June 22nd, 2009 in Audio

Dont bother with the rest. Ableton Live 8 ftmfw.

I used reason since 1999, and Logic audio Platinum before that (before they decided to stop releasing it on PC)

Started using ableton live back at version 5.2 and have never looked back.
