Thanks you all for participating in this year's 2025 Newgrounds Worst Song contest! There were lots of cringe entries and a lot of dumb entries, but there was plenty of laughs to go around. But without anymore delay, here are the results thanks to your votes!
The overall winner is ..... Chocnoon - The Antichrist's Dream by @kleed!
With a score of 26 votes! You were peak brainrot and captured our hearts and imaginations ... or rather, kidnapped them
Chocnoon was also the winner of the cringe category with 11 votes in that category alone. Thanks for hurting our souls
For the humor category the winner with 9 votes is
I'm a stinky dinky fart by @Aalasteir! Your minimalist stinky dinkies were what made us laugh the most.
Technically there was a tie for humor, but I didn't want kleed to have 3 awards with one song. My contest my rules.
For the parody category the winner with 8 votes is
So alone by @CasualBreather! Your very totally serious vocals and your genius use of referencing numbers was noted and received well. Good job! Here's a gold star ⭐
For the soulless category the winner with 9 votes is
background by @jeffbeard! Well done, your music was voted most uninspired.
Let us know if there's any developments regarding the Newgrounds amber alert ;)
Some special mentions for the runner ups with some additional bonus awards

If you want to publish your audio, please make sure it follows the audio portal guidelines
p.s. "Your audio can not damage ears or be painful to listen to." So there's a good handful that really should not exist, but you can't say I didn't warn you

I don't think you set this to be viewed by anyone, make sure you have that setting on, because I'm not able to view it.
Thanks! Fixed

Please re-read through the rules. Unfortunately the only entries considered will be non-published works.
Easy solution is to unpublish this work, or just submit new non-published works
Hello everyone!
I am very pleased to announce the start of this year's 2025 NGWSC!!! Because we know you're not here for quality content

If you thought that there's been too much good music this year, or you're looking for fresh memes to make, or you just want to torture your eardrums, this is the perfect time to take part and enjoy the audio portal's best place for absolutely terrible content. If you wanted to experiment what it would be like to sample a metronome through a phaser with 10 instances of soundgoodizer but were afraid it would be too hip for the audio portal, this is your time to shine. All skills and artists are welcome, whether you're legitimately terrible at making music, or have some semblance of ego and wanted to stretch yourself by using the opposite whatever it is that you call skills. Whatever you make, if it's good, it doesn't belong here.
To follow tradition of previous contests, there are four (4) categories that we will judge songs by:
CRINGE: Just like the "6 7" trend and "The Office", or like your first ever song, this category is for whatever song makes regret previous moments of your life.
HUMOUR: The category that takes your breath away. This is for songs that either give you a good huff of wind through your nose, or engages a violent convulsion of diaphragm and facial muscles with joy. Laughter is the best medicine.
PARODY: Songs that lampshades bad things in audio that are being done to this day, like overcompression, overuse of tropes, cheesy sound, overuse of sound effects, breathy female vocals in EDM...
SOULLESS: For songs that are the mostest blandest, generic, corporatest, AI slop sounding pieces of art.
****RULES****: (please read)
*sneak edit in astericks
While there are no rules as want quantifies as bad music, there are a couple of guidelines for this contest.
Once you've put them in the project system, post the link to your project in this thread.
After the deadline, voting will be handled by you!!! Everyone will have the opportunity to contribute to other's scores which will be handled through Discord.
For those about to hurt our ears, we salute you

Oh snap, I missed 3rd place by half a point. Congrats to the winners!

I'd say fairly strict, however can your song be performed live? Since this contest focuses on music that is often performed lived as it is a digital presentation of Battle of the Bands.
@Spadezer. I shall allow you to enter your heavy metal fusion song this time, so feel free to submit it to the Battle of the Bands - Entries thread along with the correct tags. Best of luck!
Excellent! Even if I submit a piece and upon further review it's found that my song doesn't fit the spirit of this contest, I can still withdraw. But for now I'll add my hat into the ring
I am sound
Tried to do my best to get at least one bingo bonus, but I followed inspiration more than bonus points lol. There's a key change, some growl bass, electric guitar, and ***technically*** there's 6/8 sections which to me are just a really fast 3/4 sections.
Either way, enjoy! Best of luck to all

This contest sounds pretty cool though. I'm highly likely to participate
This contest is terrible. Points for using piano and not organ? For shame

Do you get borderline or even full blown depressed if you are unable to make music for an extended period of time? I can't be the only one. If so, what goes through your head when it happens? What are some possible suggestions or solutions you might have?
I'm asking this because I'm going through a problem myself with simply not having enough free time to make any music.
Not having enough free time has been quite the struggle for me. I've definitely experienced having depression like emotions, but for me there's a combination of things in life that I would be disappointed about along with not making music that contributed to depressive states of emotions.
I recently had a dry spell of about 6-12 months of not making much music. Once I had a holiday that granted a long weekend, I was able to confirm that I need 3-4 hour sessions to initiate songs that I like and develop them into a full idea instead of just a 30 second thing. That said, it's still disappointing that I know I need to set aside that uninterrupted time to make music if I decide to make it enough of a priority. I'm still not making much music since then, but other aspects of life have changed to the point that I feel less depressive emotions. So at least for me I may have just had a dry spell to work through.
I don't think I have any good advice on what you're working through. They're might be things that you're going through that's outside of your control that's weighing you down and that's rough. For stuff that's within your control, I don't think it would be the wisest course of action to just say abandon responsibilities to make music a higher priority. You can control how you respond to life though, and I'd encourage you to try to make the best of what you have. Try to learn something from this time that you're in now so that in your next chapter of life you can capitalize on your ability to be strong and encouraging to others.
Good luck to all of you producers and musicians. May the odds be ever in your favor

i think there was one in the past, actually.
idk if @spadezer or @jacob hosted it, or if it was someone completely different that was hosting it, but it was definitely a thing at some point ?
Nope. Haven't hosted a secret Santa
Heck yeah! I'm good at being bad!

Shout out to that art. It's super cool and I like it a lot.
Congrats to everyone. Thanks judges and good work all of you finalists. Congrats on beating me too
For the most accurate listening experience for how I've interacted with this song, you need to listen with headphones and listen to it at least 20 times in a row
As for now, godspeed to all, I'm honored to have been apart of this round, and I hope to avoid listening to this song for at least a week because it's been living rent free in my head on repeat
Got my votes in
OVERALL WORST: Wanker Styles
CRINGE: \\INMYVEInS//
HUMOUR: Artistic Representation of a Stroke
PARODY: SSJ3 - Unexpect the Expected
SOULLESS: boring
And some honorable mentions because they really fit the spirit of this contest and I liked them a lot, but there wasn't a good category to put them into
