I doubt many people are going to want to program your game for you, no harm lmao.
BUT DON'T GIVE UP!!! You should try and build a game using a visual, simple engine, like Construct 2, or Gdevelop 5. They require very little programming know-how to use, and it's alot of fun to build games in. Or you could, well... learn to program! No one ever figured out anything from giving up, and no master programmer has ever gotten to where they are without being in your shoes.
You can do it!
At 4/4/22 10:55 AM, FluffyLotus wrote:Your replies gave me perspective on things I didn't think about. I'll wait until I get a more polished game with a fair amount of content.
Yeah man, I say wait until you've finished the game. The truth is, is that no matter how much of your soul or time you put into a game, people are very rarely going to appreciate exactly how much went into it. I doubt on NG, for me at least, people would check back to play the newest update.
But more than that, don't just make the game a "game", make it a coherent PIECE. Use sound, music, and atmosphere, along with visual style and flair and clever and inventive design to make something TRULY great! Have every aspect of your game work together in harmony to create something unique and wonderful you'll be proud to put your name on! The medium of computer games gives the creator more tools than any other medium, not only giving you access to sound, visuals, and writing at your disposal, but infinite time, and almost direct access to the players mind too! The sky's the limit for what you can do with a video game, so really don't skip out on any aspect!
Have fun!
can the trailer be a little over two minutes?
mines right now is just under two minutes 30 seconds
ill try make a little trailer :)
the pfp should be pentagonal by default it looks gnarly lol
Theres one song that takes me back everytime I hear it, but its a weird one lol:
I don't even think this song was on any Snow Patrol albums, I think it's like a demo. Like 10 years ago I used to sleep in a room with my three older brothers, on like two bunk beds, and the eldest was a HUGE Snow Patrol fan. He'd have to get up at like 6 AM to go to school, and that was his alarm for fucking AGES. Any time I hear that little spitting synth noise followed by the siren it just takes me back to a very particular moment in time lol. It's a nice memory :)
Hey I wanna download some of my old project files that I don't have on any hardrives any more from NG, how do I do that?

It's your old pal VCRClock here. Old like I haven't posted on the NGBBS since like 2007, but I'm the guy who keeps the lights on at the Clock Crew these days.
As you are hopefully already well aware, August 15, 2021 will be the 20th birthday of StrawberryClock's B, the single most groundbreaking multimedia experience ever to have been produced with Macromedia Flash. Unfortunately the B Blu-Ray box set remains in production hell, but to honor this momentous occasion, we'd like to offer a few humble prizes to encourage everyone to participate in Clockday 2021. I'm making this announcement now to give you a little time to put something together!
We'll probably watch as many August 15th submissions as we can stomach, casually pick some favorites from those submissions tagged with #clockday2021, and award the following prizes based on personal prejudice:
1st prize: $100
2nd prize: $75
3rd prize: $50
We'll also award $25 for the best movie/game from an artist we've never heard of, and another $25 VCRCLOCK PRIzE to the best submission made without opening Flash or Adobe Animate (tag it with #vcrclockprize so I don't miss it!)
FINALLY, we have two very special handmade StrawberryClock plushies from @Yarn to give away. We'll pick two winners at random from the pool of people who tag their Clockday submissions with #sbcraffle!
Winners will be announced by 8/17, I reckon. We're looking forward to seeing everybody's work, especially if you kind of suck but you're funny.
Love,
The Clock Crew
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU LOVE YOUR MCDONALDS DONT YE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I don't listen to alot of game osts, because while I love a game with good music, the music is there to supplement the game yknow, games like bioshock infinite have amazing soundtracks, but it just doesn't hit the same when you're not in a high stakes shootout lol.
THAT BEING SAID, i do play alot of games. and i am SHOCKED AND APPALLED that no one has mentioned the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory OST. It's the best music I have ever heard in a video game. Hands down. And the way it plays into the game itself is absolutely godlike.

Light a fire. Burn baby burn!
Would you rather sit on a wet toilet seat or a sticky toilet seat?
The prime optimal MLG strat for a sticky toilet seat is to cover to top of it in toilet paper while you take a shit so a sticky toilet seat.
would you rather let me shit in your mouth or play the last of us

I am almost finished I just need to add:
- a start game sound
- fancy credits (I have a lot of BBS users to add with their pfps)
- 2 medals
What kind of game is it? Also I wish I could add medals, but I don't think theres an extension for it for my engine lol.
Are you making anything for Pico Day 2K21? Post screenshots or ideas or anything really, its just a NG thread lol.
I have a really weird idea for a game that I might try and bend into a "playable" product for May 01, and it's probably a good time to test weird ideas now, and then work on them more later.

I think sound design is the most important thing in a game besides game design, I think its relevant in any game
Also there seems to be alot of people here, should I make a discord channel so we can talk about it a bit easier? Or will the thread do?

I'm able to do graphics and music, but I'd like to know what exactly this game is about.
I was thinking we could all make the concept ourselves, but I was thinking maybe a simple little game with an intrinsicly fun concept, like Noby Noby Boy or Wattam, it's just kind of fun to fuck around in. I was thinking of maybe blowing bubbles as a mechanic? Idk. Any ideas?
