What is changing with billing at RWJBarnabas Health?
Beginning October 1, 2025, RWJBarnabas Health is transitioning to paperless billing. Patients will now receive their billing statements digitally through RWJBH MyChart, our secure patient portal.
Why is RWJBarnabas Health moving to paperless billing?
This change helps provide a more convenient, secure, and environmentally friendly way to access billing information. Patients can view, save, and manage their statements directly through MyChart.
How will I know when I have a new bill?
You will receive a text and/or email notification (based on your communication preferences) whenever a new bill is available in MyChart.
Do I need to do anything to enroll?
No action is required. If you are a MyChart user and/or patient with a valid email address on file, you will be automatically enrolled in paperless billing.
Can I still receive paper statements?
Yes. If you prefer to continue receiving paper billing statements, you can opt out of paperless billing through your MyChart account settings.
Where can I find my statements?
Once logged into MyChart, billing statements are available under the "Billing" section. From there, you can view, download, or print past statements at any time.
How Do I Sign Up for a MyChart Account?
There are several ways to register for a MyChart account.
- Click here to register now.
- Clinic staff can help sign you up directly while you're at the front desk or in the exam room.
- You will receive a MyChart activation code on your After Visit Summary you can use to sign up.
- You will receive a text or email with an activation code you can use when you come in for a visit.
Can I create a MyChart account for my child?
Parents or guardians of children under the age of 13 may act as a proxy for their child’s MyChart account — they can set up an account in the child's name. When the patient turns 13, the parent/guardian will no longer have access to the patient’s MyChart unless the patient grants them continued proxy access.
Is my billing information secure?
Yes. MyChart is powered by Epic’s secure electronic health record system and complies with all HIPAA regulations to protect your health and billing data.
