Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health hospital, recently unveiled its sixth Cardiac Catheterization lab. “The expansion reflects the ongoing commitment to providing cutting-edge care and to remaining in the forefront of cardiovascular medicine for our all those who we serve,” says Richard Davis, President and CEO, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
“Over the past few years, we have seen significant growth in cardiovascular services. This investment underscores the organization’s focus on cardiac services and dedication to innovation,” states Arash Salemi, MD, Clinical Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery, RWJBarnabas Health - Northern Region.
The new lab is equipped with the Philips Azurion 20, a next generation image-guided therapy system designed to support complex cardiovascular procedures with greater precision to further enhance safety and outcomes. By equipping the team with the best available tools, we are increasing capacity and elevating the level of care we provide for the community.
“Designed with both patients and clinicians in mind, this new technology further enhances diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy by utilizing integrated intra-vascular ultrasound (IVUS) and coronary physiology, thereby reducing procedure times and lowering radiation exposure to our patients,” explains Bruce J. Haik, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Chief of the Division of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. Its full-service capability accommodates the most complex cases including emergency and elective cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), electrophysiology procedures such as left atrial appendage closures, cardiac ablations to treat arrhythmias and device therapy such as pacemakers and/or cardiac defibrillator implants.
Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center has been recognized by Healthgrades as being #1 in Cardiology in New Jersey and one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care. In addition, U.S. News and World Report also recognizes CBMC as a Best Regional Hospital in the very competitive, New York Metro area and high performing for Heart Failure, Heart Arrhythmia, Pacemaker Implantation and Stroke.
