Documented last months statistics; began planning to reorganize fiction section by genre; purchased tinted labels for this; Attended staff meeting; added calendars to school-wide google calendars; worked on web page; Usual activities this week; checking in and out books, class visits, and students using computers Book Fair was held this week; I shifted some things around to open up the space better and it fit and flowed much better than in the fall; Maintained completely open library schedule and class visits; Documented statistics; worked on genre labeling; worked with classes; Prepared for BoB competition; attended competition on Friday;
Processing the orders has been easy to learn, as they come from the vendors ready to go. I have still not processed anything from scratch and have a stack of items I need to get into circulation. I have taken my time on this because I wanted to become more familiar with Destiny and the whole process first. Id rather wait and get it right than mess up and have to figure out how to undo it. I really love comparing the statistics from month to month and with last year. Gives me great indicators about what Im doing. I will be managing all calendars from now on, so this was a good chance to get familiar with how they are used here. Weather caused a lot of disruption this week; kids crazy; I love middle schoolers! Thankfully we have a good number of parent volunteers who staff the book fair. The PTSO actually runs it so the money goes through them. This has worked very well for the 2 I have held this year. I am really excited about genre shelving. Cant wait to see how it effects our circulation numbers. So bummed to place second. I am extremely competitive. But, it was a good
competition. Mar. 10-14 40.39 One of my major tasks this week was setting up 3 Chromebook carts; Planned and started Media Madness to coincide with March Madness; created bulletin board for it; worked with assistants on gathering next years BoB books I was really surprised that these carts were dropped off with a roll of Velcro and some clips and absolutely no instructions on how to most efficiently set them up. I just plugged them all in at first, but then realized the cord needed some serious storage. I think what I did will work wellI guess well see after a few weeks. Fun planning for summer.

Hampstead Public Library Worked with Youth Services librarian on planning summer activities to try to bring more middle school students in Hampstead Public Library Learned about their library and the services they offer; reviewed summer program information; started planning activities for middle school kids Began preparing yearend inventory for the school; had EC class come in and measure library and furnishings for me; created scale model to begin planning major rearrangement for next year; I spent a lot of time looking through the YA section and seeing what is available that we dont have at school. This library is in walking distance of our school. Finished up summer planning which I will take to my students and try to get a lot of interest going before school gets out.
It was great to get familiar with this library and the collection. I will be much more able to refer students here for things we dont have. My predecessor hated the inventory task that goes with the job. I knew it would be challenging. I created a google form for teachers to complete, and so far so good. It has not been as bad as I expected. Id like to see more collaboration with the public library as it is very close to our school. This has been a good spot to do the extra hours and develop this relationship. Glad to have hours complete and to have established this relationship. I expect we will work together a lot.
