Article About Carrie

Carrie White, a shy and bullied high school student in Chamberlain, Maine, destroyed the town with her telekinetic powers, killing half the population. Carrie was lonely and mistreated by both her classmates and religious fanatic mother. After being humiliated at her school's prom, Carrie's latent telekinetic abilities were triggered by her despair, anger and isolation. She used her mind to burn down the entire school and nearly the whole town. Carrie White possessed a genetic ability to move objects with her mind that was unleashed by the abuse she endured.

MAINE TIMES
CHAMBERLAIN DOES NO LONGER EXIST

CARRIE WHITE
THE UNDERESTIMATED POWER OF THE MIND.

CARRIE WHITE, THE UNDERESTIMATED POWER OF THE MIND.

Chamberlain
destroyed, half of
its citizens are
dead. Most of
them correspond
to the youngest
people, who were
celebrating at the
school their,
literally, farewell
party. The school
was incinerated
along with the half
of the town,
leaving behind a
desolated town but
full of debris.
Everything was
burnt, except for
the cause of the
fire: a little girl
whose hidden
power was
unsuspected by
everyone in town.

normal qualifications and
achievements. The people
who knew her, would say
that she was skinny,
clumsy and a religious
person; in short, the typical
scruffy girl without sense of
what is happening around
her. Moreover, the ones
who really knew her,
shared the same thought:
Carrie was a lonely person
and that was all, a young
girl who was looking for
being included and have a
normal
life.
However,
beyond the myriad of points
of view that people might
have about her, none of
them wanted to be in her
shoes.
Consequently, the
lack of knowledge and
misunderstanding of her
reserved personality, ended
up in a cruel and also
violent treatment by her
classmates and even by
her mother. On one hand,
her classmates used to
laugh at her because of the
behavior that Carrie had.
Once, when she was
younger, she knelt to thank

for the meal at the

cafeteria, as her mother
had taught her, and from
that episode the bullying
began. On the other hand,
Margaret
White,
her
mother, did not bully her,
but she used to treat her
daughter as a sinful object
that needed of her control
as a religious woman, to
save her soul from the
darkness. However, the
methods that she used
were not very christians,
inasmuch as she used to
lock Carrie in a closet with
a bible, whenever she felt
that her daughter was weak
because of the temptations.
Nonetheless,
nobody
imagined
the
consequences that this
treatment could unleash.
Telekinesis,
the
power or ability that allows
people to move things with
their minds, was the
concept used to describe
what Carrie was capable
of.
Necessarily, it is
developed by people who
are apart of everything,
absorbed by the loneliness

and despair of what is

happening to them, that
usually is relative to the
abuse. However, it also
needs a genetic material
which is inherited by the
women in the family,
sometimes this material is
recessive, and it means
that the ability is there, but

the person is not able to

use it (that was the case of
Margaret that passed the
gen to her daughter).
Nevertheless,
at
other
times the genetic material,
relative to the telekinesis, is
dominant, so it is possible
to
carry
out
the
ability. Unfortunately for

those who were nasty with

her, it was the case of
Carrie
White,
who
employed her power to be
normal, free and to take
revenge on those who
laughed at her in the
farewell party at the school
