Importing Calendar Setup Data Steps

The steps to import calendar and convention data are: 1. Create an implementation project containing only the calendar task and export it as a configuration package. 2. Open the calendar XML file in Excel and enter calendar rows, then copy to a template file and generate a new XML file. 3. Rebuild the configuration package with the new XML file and import it via the application's user interface.

What are the steps that need to be taken to import calendar and convention

setup data into the application?

1. Create an Implementation project which contains only the calendar task (and prorate convention if
you also want to use a daily convention)

2. Based on that implementation project, create a configuration package and export it.

3. Open the FA_CALENDAR.xml in Excel and enter the calendar rows.

Note: opening the XML in Excel can add a rows, eg looking at the original calendar xml from the config
package, there are only 15 descriptive flexfield columns, however in Excel there are 16 for the calendar.
That additional null16 column needs to be deleted.

Note: make sure that the columns with a NULL value have value TRUE as a placeholder as that
represents the NULL value.
4. Copy/paste the results into the Calendars sheet of CalendarAndConventions4.xlsm and click on the
Generate Calendar File button at the top of the Instructions sheet. It will create the new
FA_CALENDAR.xml file in the My Documents folder.

Make sure that the .xml file created is larger than 1 kb. If it is not then you need to revisit the Excel to
see why the data is not converted to xml.

5. Make sure that you re-build the ConfigurationPackage.zip in exactly same structure as the one you
downloaded. This step is very important and it is also the reason it has to be created so that the import
will match the structure (!).

Marked in yellow above are the (nested) zip files and marked in green are directories included.

Note: The most common mistake is to include also the top directory when creating the
ConfigurationPackage.zip. Mark the files underneath the ConfigurationPackage directory and zip them.

6. Upload that ConfigurationPackage.zip via the Upload button in the Manage Configuration Packages UI

7. Then import the package via the Import Setup Data in the same UI under Export and Import
processed

Once the import is complete, the results can be downloaded and reviewed. Should there be an issue
with the import or the imported data, then the errors can also be viewed and corrected.
And of course one can view the imported setup data in the UI:
