Discipline Plan
Zero Tolerance Criminal Behavior - Immediate report to
administrators/parents/authorities.
Truancy.
Abusive conduct to others.
Possession of a weapon.
Theft.
Racial obscenities.
Defacing school or others property.
Teacher assault or verbal abuse.
Harming classroom pets.

Discussion (student and victim where applicable) with Likely Escalation


(depending on severity).
These behaviors will be disciplined through counseling, the loss of privileges and/or points.
Inappropriate Familiarity (kissing/hugging). Are both students responsible? After discussing
privately with both students, does either student want the behavior reported? Did the behavior
cross the line into sexual harassment? Escalation if behavior is repeated.
Noncompliance. Counseling to find out the reason behind the noncompliance with an eye toward
conflict resolution. Escalation if behavior is repeated.
Cheating, lying, or plagiarizing. Counseling with an eye toward improving the students
confidence. Immediate discipline. Escalation if behavior is repeated.
Using profanity, vulgar language, or obscene gestures towards another student. Counseling and
discipline with escalation if behavior is criminal or repeated.

Fighting with another student. If neither party is hurt, discussion with both parties to determine
if there is cause to escalate. Counseling with an eye toward conflict resolution. Discipline.
Escalation for repeat behavior.

Discussion with Possible Escalation if behavior is not improved.


It should be possible to remedy these behaviors with discipline (loss of privileges, grade
reductions, counseling).
Talking back. Counseling with an eye toward conflict resolution. Behavior reprimanded. Second
infraction causes loss of points/privileges.
Sleeping in class. Counseling with an eye toward discovering and remedying cause. Behavior
reprimanded. Second infraction causes loss of points/privileges.
Habitual tardiness. Counseling with an eye toward discovering and remedying cause. Behavior
reprimanded. Second infraction causes loss of points/privileges.
Unauthorized leaving of class. Measure severity in consideration of escalation. Counseling with
an eye toward conflict resolution. Behavior reprimanded. Second infraction causes loss of
points/privileges.
Throwing objects. Counseling with an eye toward conflict resolution. Behavior reprimanded.
Second infraction causes loss of points/privileges.

Discussion with Unlikely Escalation.


Talking without raising hand. Behavior reprimanded. Second infraction causes loss of
points/privileges.
Getting out of seat without permission. Behavior reprimanded. Second infraction causes loss of
points/privileges.
Eating in class. Confiscate food. Second infraction causes loss of points/privileges.
Using cell phone during class. Confiscate cell phone to be returned at the end of the day.
Warning that second infraction will cause confiscation of the phone which will be returned to
parent.
Bringing toys to class. Confiscate toy to be returned to student at the end of the day. Warning
that second infraction will cause confiscation of the toy which will be returned to parent.
