Progressive Classroom Discipline Plan

Step 1. You will first receive: a warning.

Initially, you will be given a verbal warning by the instructor to

self-correct inappropriate behavior. The instruction will use
discretion to
determine the consequence resulting
from the
warning.

Step 2. You will then receive: one-on-one meeting with the instructor.

This is the second level to the discipline progress where there will
be a discussion between you and the instructor to find a way to
resolve the issue(s) at hand. The student will have the
opportunity to present him/shes side and add any additional
information pertaining specifically to the issue(s) at hand.

Step 3. You will receive: a phone call to the parent/guardian.

The instructor will make contact with the
students parents or guardians over the phone and
discuss the issues, their concerns and a plan to resolve the
issue(s). The student will be required to have the parent/guardian
sign the referral and return to the teacher. The student will have
an opportunity to discuss with the teacher at an appropriate time
any further concerns the student may have regarding the
discipline action/plan.

Step 4. You will receive: after school detention.

This is a third offense corrective action. You will

be assigned detention afterschool or during
lunch time. The duration of the detention assignment will be at
the discretion of the instructor or substitute teacher.

Step 5. You will receive: class suspension.

A student may be removed from class per the instructors

discretion based on inappropriate or disruptive behavior

exhibited during instructional time. The student is required to

have at least one parent schedule a conference with the
instructor in order to re-enter the class.

Step 6. You will receive: a referral to the Dean, Asst. Principal or Principal.

This is self-explanatory. The teacher will not be present for this

intervention. The student will discuss the issue(s) at hand with
the Dean of students/Assistant Principal, or Principal. The dean
will then determine the appropriate action for situation at that
time. This may include but not limited to, in-house suspensions,
extended detention, counselor or special service referrals.

Violations for corrective action include but are not limited to:
1) Fighting
2) Bullying
3) Plagiarism
4) Dress Code
5) Profanity
6) Graffiti/Vandalism
7) Eating and/or drinking food in class
8) Defiance/ Bad attitudes
9) Truancy and Tardy
10) Electronic devices usage such as cell phones, tablets, smart watches, mini laptops,
mp3 players, earbuds/earphones, etc. are prohibited by the district.
This also includes any other behavior that is deemed to be inappropriate or causes a
disruption to classroom and school activities.

The teacher and the school are not responsible for

lost and stolen items that are prohibited for use on
school grounds.
