DTH Services in India: Overview & Future

This document summarizes a seminar report on Direct-to-Home (DTH) services in India. DTH services were introduced in India 3 years ago and have been successful in bringing digital entertainment to Indian homes, with over 2-3 million DTH homes currently. The report examines the introduction of DTH technology and its impact, outlining the advantages like superior picture quality, uninterrupted viewing and exclusive international channels. Disadvantages include needing separate dish antennas if channels are broadcast from different satellites and potentially high costs limiting accessibility. The future of DTH in India is seen as promising, with projections of over 2.5 million subscribers as the population grows and satellite operators target the large market.
