GROW FOODS

GLOW FOODS
GO FOODS
3G’s
(The Basic Food
Groups)
Are you familiar with the 3 Gs? It doesn’t only mean that cool feature in your cell phone, which lends advanced connectivity. What I
mean here are the 3 Gs that must be included in your daily diet. Go, Grow and Glow are the essential food groups that make up your
healthy meal. And because this was taught to us so long ago in our elementary days, some or maybe most of us have already forgotten
about this. So let me remind you again what these three things are.

Go foods include grain products like cereals and bread rich in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates contain starch and sugar. They are so
called Go Foods because it converts the sugar to energy, so we can do our work for the day. It increases our stamina, so we can kick,
run and do the boogie all day long!

Grow foods, on the other hand, from the word itself, makes us grow!  They contain calcium, protein and iron, which are responsible
for our muscle growth and strength. We know that our muscles are important for our bodily functions, so we must always let Grow
foods be part of our diet. Meat, fish, dairy products such as milk and cheese are primary sources of the nutrients found in this food
group. But we must also remember that too much intake of these can cause several weight problems. Moderate intake must be
practiced.

The last, but obviously not the least, of these 3 food groups are the Glow foods. Fruits and veggies provide the vitamins and minerals
that help “Glows” our hair, eyes and skin. For example, vitamin A found in squash and other yellow vegetables gives us clearer
eyesight.

Have a healthy lifestyle! Eating these won’t hurt you but will, instead, bring out the best in you. Eat healthy foods, choose Go, Grow
and Glow!
