Rain Dance: The Development
The Treatment
Act1 The scene starts with Chioma kneeling with a plastic bucket at his side begging to pray for rain. A gust of wind blows showing how deserted the area he s in is. Slowly he looks towards the sky. Act2 Various clouds are passed as the camera goes further up the sky. A Floating Island comes into view looking dry and depraved, however a small person appears to be dancing upon the island. Upon closer inspection we find its Chioma doing a rain dance to encou rage the world to heal itself. Act3 Eventually grass begins to sprout from the ground, trees regain their leaves and the holes in the ground begin to spout water making the floating island look full of life with birds flying in distance. The water begins to leak of the island; we follow the water down the sky and end up back to where to the praying Chioma whose land, now receiving water from the sky begins to flourish his bucket also fills with water. Happy with the out come Chioma happil y picks up his bucket and runs home.
The Step Outline
Act1 . Chioma Prays for rain.
Act2 . The scene changes to a deprived floating island. .Chioma is rain dancing on the island
Act3 . The island is revived. . Water falls from the sky/island lands where Chioma is and revives his world.
The Premise
A Zulu tribesman is in a deprived world and wishes to revive his land. He prays for rain, but unlike most prayers he makes his wish come true.
The Logline
Chioma is a lone Zulu tribesman in a dry land, like many in his situation he prays for rain. However a simple prayer is not what Chioma had in mind.
The Synopsis
A Zulu Tribesman, Chioma is in a land deprived of life. He prays for rain and in his prayer w e see a rain dance ensue.
